Zhiren Township

Zhiren township is a township under the jurisdiction of Yueqing City, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is located at the northernmost end of Yueqing City, 43.5km away from the urban area, adjacent to Huangyan and Wenling, and connected with Shuangfeng community of Dajing town. It has beautiful scenery and rich natural resources. It is famous for its rich bamboo and tea.

With a total area of 40.71 square kilometers (2017), it governs 21 administrative villages, 3 schools and 1 health center. The total population was 12623 (2017), and the total industrial and agricultural output value was 45.72 million yuan in 1999.

Historical evolution

Zhiren township was established in 1949. In 1958, it was the Zhiren administrative area of Xianxi commune. It was changed into commune in 1961, gu'ao commune of Min people's Government in 1981, min gu'ao Township in 1983 and Zhiren Township in 1992. In 1997, it covers an area of 40 square kilometers and has a population of 19000. It governs 21 administrative villages including Dajingtou, zhaojialiao, dashugang, shuikengtou, shijingkeng, shishikeng, changmen, Hechao, Majiashan, QingKeng, litiao, Xiaoling, taihushan, Siqian, Yinkeng, dataimen, xiaokeng'ao, Xiaao, wulu'ao, Xitan and Xiangzhou.

Economic overview

In 2004, the total output value of the township was 76.2047 million yuan, and the agricultural output value was 10.0239 million yuan. The industrial output value is 11.85041 million yuan, and the per capita income of farmers is 3137.57 yuan.

Zhiren Township takes liziao and Majiashan as the two centers to develop agricultural products and aquaculture by taking advantage of natural resources. We have established bases and trading markets for edible bamboo shoots, Ginkgo biloba, Zhiren early tea, Magnolia officinalis, Myrica rubra and Zaoyuan bamboo. With 8000 mu of bamboo forest area and 4500 mu of edible bamboo shoot base, it is named "hometown of bamboo shoots" by the provincial people's government. Litiao village has become a professional village with pig and layer breeding as its characteristics. In 1998 alone, the village's breeding income reached 879000 yuan, and the whole Township reached 8960000 yuan.

Zhiren early tea is produced in the east foot of Yandang Mountain, which is surrounded by clouds and has a unique environment. It is well picked and has the characteristics of flat and smooth appearance, tender green color, bright yellow green soup color, long-lasting chestnut fragrance and tender taste. In 1990, it was awarded the first prize of the second "China Cup" famous tea competition and the gold award of 2002 National Tea Expo. The price is as high as 800-1200 yuan / Jin. After 2002, Anji white tea was introduced to further expand the variety of Zhiren tea and enhance the market competitiveness. The development of social undertakings and economy should be strongly supported by education. By taking the road of "prospering the countryside through education", the teaching conditions of Zhiren have been effectively improved since 2000. In 2003, Zhiren middle school and Zhiren primary school complex building, Zhiren middle school ladder classroom and playground were built with an investment of 3 million yuan. In the same year, it was rated as "Wenzhou education strong township".
