Huanghuatang town

Huanghuatang town is subordinate to Xuyi county, Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province. It is located at the junction of Jiangsu and Anhui, and in the southeast of Xuyi county. Ninglian first-class highway (National Highway 205), Ninghuai Expressway and Suyang Expressway cross the town.

Area and population

Huanghuitang was the headquarters of the New Fourth Army from January 1943 to September 1945. After Zhang Yunyi and Luo Binghui proposed to change its name to "huanghuatang", so huanghuatang town got its name. In February 2000, when some districts of the county were adjusted, huanghuatang Township and Xinjie Township were merged and set up as huanghuatang Town, and the town government was based in Xinjie. The former Zhanghong township was located in the southeast of the county. In 1962, Zhanghong commune was established, and it was changed to Zhanghong Township in 1983. In 2000, the former Zhanghong township was incorporated into JIUPU Town, and the administrative units were also incorporated into JIUPU town government. On July 4, 2018, the people's Government of Jiangsu Province issued a document to reply "suzhengfu [2018] No. 48", with the former JIUPU Town, the area under the jurisdiction of huanghuatang town and the Liantang village committee area of mudian township as the new administrative area of huanghuatang town.
