Historical evolution
Chenshi street, formerly known as Qingfeng town, was established in the early Ming Dynasty and has a history of nearly 700 years. There is a Hongtong nunnery in the town. It was destroyed by floods in the early Ming Dynasty (around 1335). Later, it was rebuilt by a carpenter surnamed Chen, a charity artist, who led his apprentices. The address is in Chenzhong group of the current Chenshi neighborhood committee. The common people respectfully call Mr. Chen carpenter master Chen because he built the nunnery. After the completion of Hongdao nunnery, people call it master Chen nunnery. Because of the long time, people omit the word "Fu" of master Chen nunnery, and are used to call it master Chen nunnery. Chen Shi'an was once very prosperous in the surrounding areas. At that time, there were many entertainment and leisure places in the market town, such as bathing hall, "Qingfeng Hotel", photo studio, teahouse and storytelling hall. In the 1930s and 1940s, merchants from Shandong, Anhui, Yancheng and other places began to do business in the market town. At that time, Chen Shi'an was one of the "four big market towns" in Huaiyin north, together with wangjiaying, Gaogou and Yugou.
In the early years of the Republic of China, Chenshi Street belonged to Xilu city. In 1929, Chenshi Street belonged to the Second District of Northern Jiangsu. In 1929, Chenshi street was changed to the first district. After August 31, Chenshi Street belonged to kuahe district and Wangji district.
After the founding of new China, Chenshi township was established in December 1957, Chenshi people's commune was established in September 1958, Chenshi people's commune was established in 1959 by merging with Jiang'an people's commune, and Jiang'an people's commune was rezoned in 1965. Because Dongzhang River and Xizhang River are in Chenshi area, Chenshi people's commune is renamed Shuanghe people's commune, and Jiang'an people's commune is renamed Lianhuai people's commune because Lianshui meets Huaiyin. In October 1981, Shuanghe people's commune was renamed Chenshi people's commune. In August 1983, it was still renamed Chenshi township. In 2000, Lianshui district was divided again, and Jiangan and Chenshi townships were merged into Chenshi town.
In 2010, jianglaozhuang village and herbal medicine farm village of Chenshi town were included in Jiangsu Lianshui economic development zone. Lianshui Airport Industrial Park is set up on the north side of Huai'an airport road with a planned land area of about 40 square kilometers. Xihan village and Fuzhuang Village (about 12 square kilometers) to the south of the access road of Huai'an Lianshui airport are divided into Huai'an Economic and Technological Development Zone, a National Development Zone, to establish Huai'an Airport Industrial Park.
In May 2013, Huaian Economic Development Zone set up an office at Jingang road to exercise administrative, social and economic jurisdiction.
On July 3, 2015, the Management Committee of Huai'an Economic and Technological Development Zone and the people's Government of Lianshui County signed the agreement on jointly building Huai'an (Lianshui) Airport Industrial Park. Based on the principle of complementary advantages and mutual benefit, the two sides jointly promote the coordinated development of Huai'an Airport Industrial Park and Lianshui Airport Industrial Park.
