Longju town

Longju Town, Guanyun County, Jiangsu Province, is a famous town with the longest history in the five cities of Northern Jiangsu. At the end of Qin Dynasty and the beginning of Han Dynasty, the Chu general Longju (Longqi) built a city here, hence the name.

In the Qin Dynasty, Haizhou (today's Lianyungang) was regarded as a natural haven, known as the ancient qugang. With the great changes of the coastline, the harbor sites move accordingly. During the Han Dynasty, the harbor was moved to Longju in Guanyun county. In the northern and Southern Dynasties, Longju became an important part of Haidao.
