Qinghu town

Qinghu town is located in the north of Donghai County, 17 kilometers away from the county. It borders Huangchuan town in the East, Henggou Township in the west, pomegranate and Tuofeng Township in the south, and Shilianghe town in the north. It is named after the town's residence in Qinghu village, with an area of 94.32 square kilometers, 91578 mu of cultivated land and 59502 permanent residents (2017).

In December 2019, Qinghu town was selected as "civilized town of Jiangsu Province in 2016-2018".

At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, due to the turbulence of the current situation, the activities of local sects were rampant. There is a serious banditry in the Moshan area of Northwest China. There is a saying among the people that "from Moshan to Yushan, there are thirteen thieves; from Moshan to Cangshan, there are thousands of thieves.".

At the end of the third year of Xuantong reign of the Qing Dynasty, the salt defense camp stationed in qingzhuang Lake launched a mutiny while the situation was unstable, echoing with the Moshan bandits. Tang Yunpeng, the magistrate of Ganyu County, asked Wang Zuoliang, a member of the Advisory Council of Lanshan county (from Zhufan village, which now belongs to Donghai, Jiangsu Province), to send troops to suppress it. At the beginning of September, the bandits broke the Moshan mountain. The next day, they attacked Qinghu lake, conquered the salt defense camp, and left horsemen to garrison qingzhuang lake.
