Ganyu Marine Economic Development Zone, fully known as "Jiangsu Ganyu Marine Economic Development Zone", was founded in 2001 and approved as the first provincial marine economic development zone in Jiangsu Province by Jiangsu Provincial People's Government in January 2003.

It is located in the northeast of Qingkou Town, one of the first coastal open towns of the State Council, one hundred famous towns of Jiangsu Province, and the first town of Lianyungang City. It is close to the center of Ganyu district. The planning area is adjacent to the Yellow Sea in the East, national highway 204 in the west, Xingzhuang River in the north and Qingkou River in the south, with a total planning area of 158 square kilometers, including 20 square kilometers of land area.
