Personal profile
Li Gangji. He came to the fore as a teenager. At the age of 13, he took part in the Jizhou test as a child. At that time, the three famous Tongcheng ancient prose schools in the late Qing Dynasty were all in Jizhou. One is Wu Rulun of Tongcheng, who is the magistrate of Jizhou; the other is fan KENTANG of Tongzhou, who is the curtain friend of Wu Rulun in Jizhou yamen; the other is He Tao of Wuqiang County, who is the lecturer of Xindu Academy at the request of Wu Rulun. After reading Li Gangji's essay, the three said: "this genius is what we fear." Wu Rulun specially arranged for Li Gangji to learn ancient Chinese prose from fan KENTANG in yamen, and he also tutored himself. Later, he became the dean of Lianchi academy, and brought Li Gangji to school. Among the students in Lianchi, Li Gangji is the youngest and ranks first in every exam. All the top students admire him. In the autumn of the 19th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu, Li Gangji was elected, and in the spring of the second year, he was only 22 years old. In the 24th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu, Li Gangji received and distributed it to Shanxi Province. Originally, he was granted the title of magistrate of Datong, but because he could not cater to Shangguan, he was unable to assume the post for seven years. Instead, he successively served as acting magistrate and acting magistrate in remote counties such as Lingqiu, Fanshi, Wutai, jingle and daizhou. Li Gangji thinks that the reform of our country can not achieve the effect of prosperity and strength, half of which is due to the officials' control of pollution. The advance and retreat of senior officials can not be balanced, and the prefectures and counties all regard the officialdom as a profit-making market, and even pay no attention to the gains and losses of politics. Therefore, the official administration is getting worse and worse day by day, and the people's life is getting poorer and poorer. If someone does not come out to rectify the vulgar abuses and advocate for the hundred officials, then the poison will never end. Therefore, in every county, Li Gangji had to invite local fair gentry to inquire about the people's situation in detail and administer appropriately. For example, his new policies of setting up schools and patrolling police in the places where he was appointed were all flexible and original. In order to lighten the burden of the common people, Li Gangji also appropriated all the "fees" used by the officials as the funds for running the school, which greatly encouraged the scholars. Li Gangji is good at hearing lawsuits, and he is often asked to hear big cases in neighboring counties. He was so impartial that there was a case in Guangling county where both sides of the lawsuit jointly requested to set up a memorial hall for him. When Li Gangji was transferred from Lingqiu, the people of the county could not bear him to leave. The representative of Gongju went to the provincial government to plead with the governor to take back his life, but he was not allowed. As a result, Li Gangji's political reputation has spread far and wide. After the revolution of 1911, the social order in Datong was chaotic, and there were often mobs robbing and killing, and the county magistrate could not hide. However, the governor of Shanxi repeatedly sent people to replace them, but no one dared to go. Li Gangji sighed and said: "usually, it's like a bird frightening a mouse, and a bird frightening a bow when it's in disorder. What's this?" He resolutely asked for orders to go, and the thugs along the way gathered together. More than ten days after Li Gangji's arrival, the Huai army stationed in the city suddenly mutinied, slaughtered and looted for six days and nights. The Datong general and the magistrate were afraid to stop it. Li Gangji stepped forward and took the post alone. He initiated the aftermath Union and discussed with the gentlemen about how to save them. His sleep and food were exhausted and the mutiny was finally put down. Although the mutiny subsided, the city of Lu was withered and the public and private were in dire straits. In order to restore the economy of Datong, Li Gangji set up a local bank. After months of hard work, the people's life settled down. Li Gangji's talent was praised by Yan Xishan, the governor of Shanxi Province, and was recommended by the civil affairs chief to the president. Li Gangji, who had suffered many hardships and was exhausted in appearance and spirit, repeatedly applied for resignation and finally returned to Baoding in 1914. Baoding University set up a special department of Chinese culture and culture, and the headmaster Zhao asked Li Gangji to teach. Li Gangji has been lecturing for several months and is very popular with students. Li Gangji was originally weak. After he was tired in Datong, he suffered from phlegm cough and diarrhea in summer. He was bedridden until October. He died in November 1914 at the age of 43.
