Zhu Fushen was born in Shupu town of Haiyan. As a child, he was intelligent and eager to learn. He had a strong memory. He studied hard for more than 10 years and was familiar with classics, medicine and Buddhism. Poor family, to teach for a living, Yi people Zhang Yuanji once studied in the door.

Later, he became an official by paying tribute and was elected in 1879. He became a Jinshi in six years. He has successively served as a secretary of the Imperial Academy, a lecturer in the Imperial Academy, a bachelor in the Imperial Academy, and a lecturer in the imperial banquet. He served as the examiner of the joint examination for 18 years. He was appointed Henan Xuezheng in 23 years. He served as a scholar in Guizhou for 29 years. He won the second prize for his work in compiling books. He was awarded Hualing, a senior official and a doctor of Jin Ronglu. After the revolution of 1911, he left his post and returned home. Later, he was invited by Xu Shichang to become an adviser to the president and moved to Tianjin. He also excelled in medical skills, and many relatives and friends sought treatment. He once cured Zhu's wife, Zhang's, and Xu Xiusheng's wife, Zhu's infertility. His works include Lun Xue Shu Wen, Fu An Shi Wen Ji, Yi Fang Ji and medical treatise.
