Zeng Yong (1748-1821) was born in Sanxiang village, Luoyang Town, Taishun County, Zhejiang Province. He was fond of learning when he was young, and he was proficient in the six classics. In 1777, Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty chose tribute to the Imperial College, which was among the best in every examination. He has been appointed to teach in Tangxi, Jinhua, Xiaofeng, Yunhe and other counties.
When Ruan Wenda, the prime minister, was the governor of Zhejiang Province, he attached great importance to his deeds and recommended him as the magistrate of Dong'an County in Hunan Province. During his term of office, he was honest, loved the people, put an end to bribery, abolished idle yamen officers, strictly prohibited the officers from disturbing the people, severely denounced the crafty and false accusers, heard lawsuits and sentenced them to prison, gave strict rewards and punishments, and finally led to the end of litigation and prison, which was called "Qingtian" by the people. When they go out on business, they often lift up their long clothes, take off their hats, and inquire about the sufferings of the peasants. They are filial to the land, and the local people regard them as their parents. If there is a dispute between the mouse and the bird, they will be ordered to dispel it. If they find that there are those who are not evil, they will be admonished face to face, so that they can change the evil and follow the good. he lived a simple life and was kind to the people. In the first year of Daoguang (1821), he died in the Dong'an County Office, which was deeply regretted by the scholars and the people, and wrote a collection of morality and politics for him. After his death, his family had no money left. His students and gentry raised money to collect the coffin and return it to Zi for burial. His works include wujingjie, fuzhaiwenji (16 volumes), fuzhaishiji (4 volumes), etc.
