Xu Youwei, whose date of birth and death is unknown, was born in Shishou County of Huguang in Ming Dynasty. He was appointed magistrate of Xunyang County in 1510.
At that time, LAN Tingrui and Yan Benshu of Sichuan Province advocated chaos and traveled between Sichuan and Shaanxi. They all commanded Zhang Guangyu to stay in Ziyang Beach (Ziyang had not yet set up a county at that time) to prevent blockage. They declared that six cities should transport grain to help, but the poor city could not provide, so they donated their salaries and bought grain to make up for it. In the winter of this year, the bandits of Shu, who had been in the south of ten days since Pingli, rushed to qiliguan to defend them. They trudged around. They felt cold and died in office. The story can be seen in Xunyang county annals of Guangxu.
