Shuai Yuanyu (1817-1857), a native of Huangmei, Hubei Province, was named Zhongqian and yizhai. Qing Dynasty officials, Jinshi origin.
Shuai Yuanyu's grandfather Shuai Chengying was the governor of Zhejiang Province in 1796. Yuanzhen was a tribute to Daoguang in 1837. He was unable to go to the imperial examination because of his father's death. In 1841, Shuai Chengying was ill and died. Emperor Daoguang thought of his old minister and gave Yuanyu the title of Juren. In the 27th year of Daoguang (1847), Shuai Yuanzhen was a second class Jinshi of dingweike in the examination. He was changed into a good scholar and was sent to the library for editing. Hong Xiuquan and others started an incident against the Qing Dynasty and wrote military advice in the third year of Xianfeng (1853). After that, he got the Taoist identity by paying money and stayed in Jiangxi for donation. In 1857, Li Ding, commander in chief, was trapped in Dongxiang by Shi Dakai of the Taiping army. Yuanzhen recruited soldiers to rescue him. He died at the age of 41. The imperial court granted the title of "Qi Du Wei" and built a special temple to offer sacrifices
