Life of the characters
In May of the 33rd year of Guangxu (1907, the 15th year of the zoujihuoyin sheep in the Tibetan calendar), Wu Jiamo took care of the Sichuan and Yunnan border affairs minister Zhao Erfeng, who managed the Sichuan border. After careful consideration, he decided to take running a school as the "Outline" of the "six major discussions" of "running a school, training troops, trading, cultivating land, establishing officials, and changing customs", which was approved by Zhao Erfeng. Therefore, Zhao Erfeng set up the Sichuan border learning Affairs Bureau in dajianlu (now Kangding, Sichuan Province), and appointed Wu Jiamo as the general office to be responsible for raising tuition fees, checking regulations, purchasing books and instruments, hiring teachers, sending students to persuade students, etc. The next year, the Sichuan border Academic Affairs Bureau moved to ba'an (now Batang, Sichuan). Wu Jiamo decided to develop the cause of running schools with ba'an as the center, so he set up western school districts in Yanjing and jiangka, and set up Mandarin schools. It is stipulated that all children aged 7-12 must go to school; all students are free of tuition fees, and all paper, pen, ink, inkstone and books are provided by the school. The school implements the scholarship system; for those who have the first grade in primary school, their parents will be exempted from "Wula's duty" for three years; for those who have the second grade, they will be exempted from two years; for those who have the third grade, they will be exempted from one year; for those who have the top seven grades, they will be given material rewards; for those who have outstanding examination results in each semester, special rewards will be set up. In June of the 34th year of Guangxu (1908, the 15th year of monkey in the Tibetan calendar), Wu Jiamo opened 10 Mandarin schools with 354 male and female students in Yanjing County, Western learning District, and one mandarin school with more than 30 male and female students in jiangka. In the first year of Xuantong (1909, the 15th year of Tuyin chicken in Tibetan calendar), three Mandarin schools were set up in Jingning County, with more than 100 male and female students. Students are divided into three classes according to their age. Class A and class B offer self-cultivation, classics reading, Chinese, history, geography, arithmetic, drawing, handwork, singing, gymnastics and other courses; class C students learn vocabulary and recite "jiujiubiao". During the period of the Republic of China, the Mandarin schools run by Wu Jiamo were all changed into county primary schools. Later, due to lack of funds, many schools stopped running. Wu Jiamo set up schools in the Western School District of Sichuan, which made great contributions to the development of education in Yanjing and Jingjing counties. Zhao Erfeng spoke highly of his achievements in running schools in Sichuan. In the second year of Xuantong (1910, the 15th year of tieyang dog in the Tibetan calendar), he wrote to the imperial court: "Wu Jiamo, the head of the branch of the Foreign Affairs Bureau, is appointed as the general office. He was enthusiastic and persevering. He elected committee members, extended teaching and learning, bought utensils and went through the customs happily. At that time, the people were newly attached and their knowledge was not developed. When they heard that a new school had been set up, they were all suspicious. He also said that his children were not willing to go to school. The chief executive of the Department raised a large number of translators, and Du Tong advised the students to run through the ice and snow. In Zhou Dynasty, there were many ways to persuade them. A few months later, the barbarians released their doubts and gradually expanded their scope The main task is that students can speak directly, that is, to take the opportunity to speak the benefits of admission. "
