Ye Danian, male, Han nationality, born in Hong Kong on July 21, 1939, native place is Heshan, Guangdong Province. He is a member of the Communist Party of China, a member of the China Democratic League, a mineralogist and human geographer, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a researcher of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a professor of the school of earth and Space Sciences of Peking University, and a vice chairman of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the China Democratic League.

Ye Danian received a bachelor's degree in rocks and minerals from the Department of geology, Beijing Institute of Geosciences in 1962, and a master's degree from the Institute of geology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in September 1966. Since September 1966, he has worked in the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and successively served as a research intern, assistant researcher, associate researcher and researcher. In 1991, he was elected as an academician of the Department of Geosciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In September 2001, he was elected as a member of the Department of Geosciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences In June, he was employed as a professor of School of earth and Space Sciences, Peking University.

Since 1978, ye Danian has been director of the Graduate Department of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 1987, ye Danian joined the Communist Party of China. In 1991, ye Danian was elected academician of the Department of Geosciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In September 2001, ye Danian was employed as a professor in the school of earth and Space Sciences, Peking University.

Ye Danian solved the problem of identifying feldspar, pyroxene, amphibole, garnet and other rock forming minerals by X-ray powder method; studied the main problems in the theory and technology of foundry; in the aspect of statistical crystal chemistry, he carried out the research on the random accumulation of particles, found some important accumulation constants, revealed the law of conservation of the average volume of oxygen ions in the earth's sphere; and discovered the false high Pressure effect established X-ray identification method of feldspar, pyroxene, garnet and other major rock forming minerals, carried out statistical crystal chemistry research, found the additivity of molecular volume and the conservation law of average oxygen volume in the earth's sphere, and studied the volume effect of random accumulation of particles.
