Yan can, the word Tan Shu, and the word Ming Qing, the name Hua gu, birth and death unknown, song Shaowu take mouth Yan Jiafang people. About in the late Southern Song Dynasty, he was a Jinshi, and once served in Quanzhou Qingxiang order.

He is good at writing poems with a style of "rejecting vulgarity in Qing Dynasty", which is similar to Yan Yu. Tiantai (today's Tiantai in Zhejiang Province) Dai Shizhi presented a poem saying that "can also painstakingly chant the body and bind it with hairpin.". All over the world, he learned from Du Fu. Yan can's poems are based on Gu's reading and painting studio's collection of Southern Song qunxianxiaoji and Zhongxing qunggongyingao.
