Gong Bing, whose birth and death are unknown, is a native of Huanggang County in Qing Dynasty. His family was poor and fond of learning. In the 24th year of Jiaqing (1819) of the Qing Dynasty, he was the deputy leader of the school. Autumn Festival. In the 11th year of Daoguang reign of Qing Dynasty (1831), Dong Xiu Yuan Gong Yuan, recommended to be used as teaching edict, and successively issued Baokang, Zhijiang and Zhushan teaching edicts. Later, he focused on the two academies of Danyang and Shangyong. In the first year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty (1851), he returned to his native place and took over the Spring Festival of Wenjin Academy. He gave lectures to Wenjin academy and devoted himself to his works.
