Huang Lian, whose name is Ruqi, was born in 1437 in the second year of Zhengtong of Ming Dynasty. He was born in shepu, wangjiangli (now shiting village, Jiangkou Town, Putian County). He was known for his love of the people and honesty. He died in 1502 at the age of 65.
Huanglian (1437-1502)
Huang Lian, whose name is Ruqi, was born in 1437 in the second year of Zhengtong of Ming Dynasty. He was born in shepu, wangjiangli (now shiting village, Jiangkou Town, Putian County). Chenghua second year (1466) Jinshi, granted Nanjing Huke to Shizhong, and soon transferred to like to Shizhong. Lian stresses integrity in handling affairs and takes the affairs of the world as his own responsibility. At that time, Wang Zhi, the eunuch of the Western chamber, was good at power, formed a clique with Wang Yue and other people for personal gain, repeatedly set up big prisons and framed Zhongliang. Lian and other ministers Shangzhang exposed his traitors, and Wang Zhi was demoted to death. Later, he was promoted to Zhejiang counsellor and governor of silver mining in Wenzhou. He was transferred to Yunnan as a counsellor. In his term of office, Lian restrained the local powerful forces, and tried his best to help Nongsang. He made outstanding achievements and promoted Guizhou to participate in politics. In the third year of Hongzhi (1490), he was promoted to the right Minister of Guizhou. Soon after, he was promoted to the left Minister of Guizhou.
Lian has been an official for 40 years. He is famous for his love of the people and his honesty. He often warns himself with the four words of loyalty, honesty, honesty and sincerity, so he calls himself "beg me".
At that time, shepu had many hills and was close to the countryside. There was a serious water shortage and frequent droughts, which affected agricultural production. Lian told the prefect of Putian to mobilize the masses to dig canals for tens of miles, save water from Mulan and Yanshou streams for irrigation, and divert water to hanjiangyan (today's Aoshan Village), Jingshan and Jindun to irrigate farmland. He also advocated the construction of nan'anpi and the excavation of diversion canals, so that a large area of farmland in jiuliyang could be protected from drought and flood.
He died in 1502 at the age of 65.
