Huang Guangzong is a native of Huangdun Township, Huaining County, Anhui Province. He graduated from junior high school in the year of the Republic of China. In April of the year of the Republic of China, he went to Tunxi and worked as an apprentice in the machinery repair shop of Gongda.

Huang Guangzong began to study mechanical drawing by himself in 1950, and learned the repair technology of generator in 1954. After self-study and practice, he mastered certain theoretical knowledge of mechanical manufacturing, became a technical backbone of the factory, and joined the Communist Party of China in 1958. In 1959, when he was producing the machine tool, he first designed the transverse milling head, which improved the processing quality and efficiency of the rack. In 1964, he also designed and formulated a complete set of tooling technology for two kinds of petroleum valves, solved the high-speed machining method of stainless steel, resulting in mass production of valves; in 1969, he participated in the technical research of trial production of C620 lathe in machine tool factory, and achieved success. Later, he led and participated in the design, trial production and process improvement of a variety of new products, and made a number of technical achievements. For example, the general assembly drawing of 20t spiral broaching machine, the automatic scaler of C620 lathe, the automatic tool skipping of C6132 lathe, the special boring machine and mould, the high frequency quenching machine and the design and manufacture of the self-propelled and dual-purpose vehicle and rotary disc for rail quenching. After 1980, he led the development of more than 20 new varieties of valves, and made contributions to the expansion of valve production.
