Lu Zhiyu, born in Taihu County during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, was born in his father's Yunnan Province. He studied calligraphy, riding and shooting in his hometown Taihu Lake when he was a child. In 1720 of Emperor Kangxi's 59th year, he was appointed as the magistrate of Queshan County in Henan Province and the Chief Secretary of Qinghe River and Zhili. As an official for decades, he has made great achievements in building water conservancy, developing production, and getting rid of old habits. He is the author of Changlu Yanzhi, Xiajing Nanzhi, shixintang poetry anthology, etc. He was 81 years old.
