Wang Xie (1848-1900), a famous military general in Qing Dynasty, was born in shuntianninghe (now Tianjin). The great grandson of Wang Xipeng, a famous general in Qing Dynasty, and the eldest brother of Wang Zhao, a famous phoneticist.
Profile
Wang Xie was born in 1848. Xipeng, the great grandfather's father, was born in the army. He was good at riding and shooting. He was the commander in chief of Shouchun town. He had been through the battlefield for a long time and made many contributions. In October 1841, he died in Dinghai against the British army. His grandfather, Wang Chengsi, once served as the prefect of daizhou and Puzhou in Shanxi Province. His father was a student of Ji Tai, and he inherited the military position of Du Qi Wei and Yun Qi Wei. In 1859, Wang Xie lost his father. He was only 11 years old and had two younger brothers. The second younger brother was Wang Zhao, an active participant in the reform movement of 1898 and the earliest reformer of Chinese characters and phonetics; the third younger brother, Wang Zhuo, like Wang Zhao, both passed the entrance examination and served in the Ministry of officials. After Wang Xie's father died of illness, his mother and his brother lived frugally for three years. Wang Zhao, the second younger brother, was adopted by his uncle Wang long. Wang was then a member of the Ministry of punishment. In 1868, Wang Xie was a student of Tongzhi county and married Liu. In 1873, the Shuntian rural examination was held in Tongzhi. Because of his family's difficulties, Wang Xie missed the opportunity to take part in the examination. Later, Wang Xie, a 25-year-old, took up the post of the capital's Youying capital. This is the military position under the command of the Bu army in the Qing Dynasty, commonly known as the "nine gate governor", which is the official of the four grades. For Wang Xie, who had a preliminary official career, his rank was not low. Thanks to Huang en Hao Dang, he did his best and made outstanding achievements. He was soon promoted to Zuoying guerrilla (from the third grade), and then added the second grade, giving the rank of chief soldier and the rank of warehouseman.
During Wang Xie's term as a guerrilla in Zuoying of Beijing, the Boxer Movement surged into Beijing in the name of "supporting the Qing Dynasty and exterminating the ocean" when the Allied forces of the eight powers invaded Beijing. The public order was very chaotic. On June 10, 1900, more than 2000 members of the eight countries' allied forces invaded Beijing and were blocked by the boxers in Luolong, Langfang, between Tianjin and Beijing. At this time, the public security situation in the capital was becoming more and more serious. A large number of boxers poured into the capital to kill foreigners, search for spies, burn foreign shops, burn churches, cut power lines, smash stations and post offices. The radical actions of the boxers also seriously hurt the innocent. For example, the fire on May 20 (June 16, 1900) in Guangxu 26th year has such records in relevant historical materials: "burning Dashilan was an influential event during the Boxer Movement. Some of the works only talked about the burning of laodeji pharmacy and the burning of large areas of residential buildings. Some of them even spoke highly of it, believing that it showed the Boxers' determination to fight against imperialism and "strictly ban the sale of foreign goods.". This is obviously one-sided and does not conform to historical reality. In fact, because of a big fire, thousands of residents are suffering In such a public security situation, Wang Xie risked his life to patrol every day for fear of dereliction of duty. At this time, in order to strengthen the security of the capital, the Qing government appointed a full-time regiment training Minister of the capital to patrol with the censor of the five cities. The action of the boxers was to kill the foreigners, but they also hated the officials and soldiers who had an affair with foreigners. Just a few days before Wang Xie was killed on patrol, the Empress Dowager of the Qing Dynasty held a meeting in front of the imperial court for four consecutive days and decided to appease the boxers. On June 19, Cixi held the fourth pre imperial meeting and decided to declare war on the great powers. Just as the army and the Yihetuan united to fight against foreign enemies, Wang Xie was captured by the Yihetuan during his patrol on June 21, mistaking him for a spy who had an affair with foreigners, and was killed. He was 52 years old.
