Wang Yi
Wang Yi, or Shi Yi (Hu Sansheng's Three Kingdoms annals and Zizhitongjian annotated that huangfumi's biography of lienvzhuan was originally "Shi's daughter" rather than "Wang's daughter"), the wife of Zhao ang, the governor of qiangdaoling and governor of Yizhou, and the mother of Zhao Ying and Zhao Yue.
When Ma Chao made trouble in Liangzhou, Wang Yi helped her husband to guard the city, and made many contributions. From Ma Chao's attack on Hebei city to Qi Shan's insistence, Zhao ang made nine extraordinary plans, and Wang Yi participated in them.
In the three popular versions of the romance of the Three Kingdoms, both Mao's and Jiajing's versions only mention Wang, while Huang Zhengfu's version of the romance of the Three Kingdoms states Wang Yi.

Wang Yi is known for his righteousness and resourcefulness. Her husband is Zhao ang, a native of Tianshui. When Zhao ang was appointed as the order of Qiang, Wang Yi and her children stayed in the west of Tianshui county. At that time, Liang Shuangbei, a native of Tongjun County, rebelled against the imperial court, led his troops to attack Xicheng and killed Wang Yi's two sons. Wang Yi saw that her second son had been killed, and she didn't want to be invaded by Liang Shuang, so she planned to commit suicide. But when she looked at her 6-year-old daughter Zhao Ying, she gave up the idea of suicide and sighed to her daughter: "when I die, you will be abandoned. Who can you turn to? I heard that even Xi Shi, if she wore dirty clothes, everyone would cover their nose and stay away. What's more, I'm not as beautiful as Xi Shi? " So she put on a sackcloth that had been soaked in dung water and ate very little to make herself look thin and weak. So she spent a year. Later Liang Shuang reconciled with the county officials, and Wang Yi was spared by this way of life. Later, Zhao ang sent someone to pick up Wang Yi's mother and daughter. When it came to the official house, Wang Yi stopped moving forward and told her daughter that she could not die because she was worried about her young daughter. Now that her daughter would return to her father, she decided to leave her daughter for death, and then she took poison to commit suicide. Fortunately, someone provided the antidote soup and forced it into Wang Yi's mouth. Finally, Wang Yi woke up.
Resist Ma Chao
Zhao ang later served as a military official and took office in Jicheng. Wang Yi moved to Jicheng with her husband.
In the 17th year of Jian'an (213 A.D.), Ma Chao attacked Ji City. Wang Yi dressed himself in battle clothes and assisted Zhao ang in guarding the city. He also rewarded the soldiers with his beads, rings and other items to inspire their morale. After Ma Chao stepped up the offensive, the city was in critical condition, and there was a shortage of food in the city. Seeing the disabled people, the benevolent governor Wei Kang could not bear the pain, so he planned to make peace with Ma Chao. Zhao ang remonstrated bitterly, but Wei Kang refused, so Zhao ang went home to discuss with Wang Yi. Wang Yi said: "kings have admonishments, and scholar bureaucrats also have the duty to act according to circumstances and have the exclusive power to engage in. This kind of authoritarian behavior is not a fault. Who knows that the Central Plains rescuers will not be able to come here to help? We should encourage the soldiers to serve the country with one heart, and should not submit to the will of the rebels. " But when Zhao ang returned to his post, Wei Kang had made peace with Ma Chao. Soon after Ma Chao's surrender, he broke his promise to kill Wei Kang and forced Zhao ang to give his son Zhao Yue to Nanzheng as a hostage. He became Ma Chao's subordinate.

Great righteousness will not hesitate
