Wang Shizeng was a scholar and official in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. Jingchang, also known as Jingrang, was born in Shanghai, Jiangsu Province in the late Qing Dynasty. His manuscript, Yeji of aiding Korea, records the whole process of the Sino Japanese naval battle between 1894 and 1895, from the initiation of the Korean Dongxue party in March, 1894 to the signing of the humiliating Treaty of Shimonoseki by Li Hongzhang and Japanese diplomat ITO Bowen in 1895. Famous experts call it "rich and simple". The historical materials of the situation in North Asia and the impeachment of Li Hongzhang before and after the Sino Japanese War of 1894-1895 are not included in the draft of Qing Dynasty history and donghualu of Guangxu. It is a valuable document to study the history of Sino Japanese War, Sino Japanese relations and the diplomatic history of the late Qing Dynasty.
