Wang Tongji (1535-1620), a writer and poet of Ming Dynasty, was born in Huanggang (now Jiujie, Xinzhou District, Wuhan). Gongsheng was the official of Jiangning County. On the same track, he compiled a collection of anecdotes, and wrote 15 volumes of Er Tan, each of which recorded the person mentioned in the general catalogue of Si Ku, so as to show his credit.

His works include Er Tan, er Tan Lei Zeng, Wang Xing Fu Ji and Lan Xin Ji. Qian Qianyi said that he did not write many poems, had his own style, and did not want to send them to the public.
