Zhan Fangsheng was a writer and metaphysician in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. In the middle of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, he was a member of the Wei army. In philosophy, he advocated to nourish his nature and live a long life (Qian Xiu Shan Ming); he praised the profound and profound beisou for his detachment from the gains and losses of honor and Disgrace: "if you lose Ma Fu Xi, you will be more happy if you break your arm" (praise of beisou). Lament the withering of life, advocate sound Xuanfeng. No matter honor or disgrace. These are the main contents of Zhan Fangsheng's metaphysics. The original collection of 10 volumes is lost. Some of his works are compiled in Volume 40 of Quan Jin Wen.

Profile

Zhan Fangsheng was a poet in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. The place of birth and death are unknown. According to the word "the 11th year of the Taiyuan Dynasty" mentioned in his preface to Lushan immortal poems, it can be seen that he lived in the late Eastern Jin Dynasty when he was Emperor Xiaowu. He once served as the magistrate of Xidao county and the counsellor of the Wei army, and then resigned. There are ten volumes of zhanfangshengji in the book of Sui, jingjizhi. There are 9 poems and some lost sentences in the poems of pre Qin, Han, Wei, Jin, Nan and Northern Dynasties. Yan Kejun compiled 18 essays and Fu in his complete works of three dynasties, Qin, Han, Three Kingdoms and six dynasties.

Features of works

His poems are good at describing scenery. The style of his poems is rather plain, which is a little close to Tao Yuanming's. sometimes there are sentences with similar forms, which seem to be influenced by Zhang Xie. There are also some poems with the flavor of metaphysics, which are similar to the works of Yin Zhongwen and Xie Hun who "began to change the style of sun Xu" (on the biography of Xie Lingyun in the book of Song Dynasty) and "the metaphysics is still not completely removed" (on the biography of literature in the book of Southern Qi Dynasty), which marks the turning point of the poetic style. His poems are like the poem of returning the capital to sail: "the mountains are lofty and the lake is clear. The white sand is clean in poor years, the forest pine is green in winter and summer. Zhan Fangsheng's zayan poems inherited Fu Xuan and Xia Hou Zhan in the Western Jin Dynasty and started Xie Zhuang in the Southern Song Dynasty. These works are quite artistic.
