Profile
Character career
In 2004, Professor Lu Ning published the monograph "unsaturated soil mechanics" (John wileyand sons Press); in 2006, he published the paper "suction stress characteristic curve for unsaturated oils", which first proposed the concepts of "suction stress" and "suction stress curve" of unsaturated soils; in 2010, he published the academic paper "isometric contraction stress variable?", which proposed the concept of unsaturated soils He also invented a new laboratory rapid detection instrument for measuring soil moisture characteristic curve and hydraulic conductivity function; he used soil moisture probe and soil suction probe to carry out field monitoring of landslide and predict the occurrence of local unsaturated shallow landslide. Due to his outstanding achievements, Professor Lu Ning won the normal Medal Award and J. James croes medal award of American Society of civil engineering in 2007 and 2010 respectively. engaged in unsaturated soil mechanics, seepage stress coupling and monitoring, analysis and prediction of shallow landslide for a long time. The principle of suction stress and unified effective stress proposed by him organically combines unsaturated soil mechanics with traditional saturated soil mechanics, which is a landmark achievement in the field of unsaturated hydraulics and soil mechanics. He presided over the development of "laboratory rapid measuring instrument for soil moisture characteristic curve and permeability coefficient", which greatly shortened the measuring time of moisture absorption parameters of unsaturated fine-grained soil and promoted the development of unsaturated hydraulics and soil mechanics. In cooperation with the U.S. Geological Survey, he applied unsaturated soil mechanics theory to the monitoring and prediction of shallow landslides, and achieved a number of breakthrough results. In recent years, his works unsaturated soil mechanics and slope hydrology and stability have been widely praised in the world. Among them, the Chinese version of unsaturated soil mechanics (2012) will be published by higher education press. He is the winner of the American Society of civil engineering normal Medal Award (2007) and J. James croes Medal Award (2010).
