Wang Zhu, also known as Dewen, was born in Yinxian county (now Yinzhou District of Ningbo City). Yuanfu three years (1100) Jinshi, Guan to Guan Wendian bachelor. At the age of nine, he was able to write poems and was known as Wang's prodigy. His father, Wang Yuanji, was a county official of Yin county. When Wang Anshi was the magistrate of Yin County, because he valued Wang Yuanji's character, he recommended Wang Yuanji to the then transshipment history, and sent Wang Yuanji to take charge of the legal affairs of Mingzhou prefecture (judicial service).

In the seventh literature category of the popular edition, a superior official once summoned him when he heard that he was a child prodigy. He wore a very short shirt to meet him. The official then asked him why the shirt was so short, and he immediately wrote a poem and answered: "the child prodigy's shirt is short, and the sleeves are big, causing the spring breeze. As an adult, Wang Zhu was familiar with Confucian classics and history. However, after many examinations, they failed. It was not until the third year of Yuanfu (1100) of song zhezong that he was admitted as a Jinshi and became a professor of Mingzhou government school. Wang Zhu is a good teacher because he is honest and upright. Many students follow him and he is expected to be a good teacher. People all over the world call him "Mr. Wang". It was because he was a good professor and heard of the imperial court that when Wang Zhu died, he was awarded the title of "Zhengfeng doctor" (zhengsipin) and was given higher preferential treatment.
