Character experience
Jiang Zhiyuan, a native of kaocheng in Jiyang, is the son of Jiang Yi's younger brother. His father, Jiang seng'an, was the common son of the crown prince. Jiang Zhiyuan initially served as a writer. Liu Yigong, the king of Jiangxia, joined the army, and the crown prince, Taifu, joined the army after the birth of Wang Liu. His uncle Jiang Yi is well-known, and his son Jiang Zhan has a very beautiful reputation. Both of them have good career and high status. Jiang Zhiyuan's father had no reputation when he was young. Jiang Zhan's attitude towards him is very simple. Jiang Zhiyuan often regrets this. If it was not for the Spring Festival, Jiang Zhiyuan would not enter Jiang Zhan's family. Jiang Zhiyuan served as a subordinate of Liu Sheng in Xiangyang, and Liu Sheng was very close to him. At that time, Xie Zhuang, the counsellor of the army, and Shen Huaiwen, the governor of the government, had close contacts with Jiang Zhiyuan. Shen Huaiwen often praised Jiang Zhiyuan and said, "people have all the virtues they should have and none of the bad habits they shouldn't have. I'm afraid this man is Jiang Zhiyuan." At the end of Yuanjia period, Jiang Zhiyuan was granted the title of minister of shangshuku. At that time, the children of famous families were officials, not Tailang. With the decline of Jiang Zhiyuan's family and the lack of recommendation from the imperial court, he was so unhappy that he refused to accept such an official position. Liu Sheng, king of jingling, gave him the title of Hushi to join the army in the name of the palace, and then he was transferred to be the commander of Sikong and Jishi to join the army. When Liu's birthday was about to rebel, Jiang Zhiyuan saw his plot and asked for leave to return to the capital first. When Liu's rebellion failed, the imperial court immediately dismissed Jiang Zhiyuan as the Minister of Zhongshu. Jiang Zhiyuan was fond of literature, and his diction was fresh and rich. Liu Jun, the ancestor of his generation, appreciated him very much, and his favor and courtesy ranked first among the courtiers. The emperor often arranged private banquets, and most of them ordered three or five courtiers to accompany them. Jiang Zhiyuan often took the lead among the visitors. Sometimes a companion fails to come forward, and he is always introduced alone. Jiang Zhiyuan is often ashamed of surpassing others, and never shows his proud expression. Every time he went on a trip with the emperor, he would go along with the officials. When he saw the messenger coming, he knew that he was going to call him. So he was afraid, ashamed and uneasy. The people who talked about it praised him for it. Jiang Zhiyuan moved to be a general of Xiaoqi and a minister. Every time the emperor was drunk, he would scold and insult the officials, and order them to taunt and attack each other as an entertainment game. Jiang Zhiyuan had always been upright and modest, which gradually did not conform to the emperor's wishes. The emperor once ordered him to take Wang Seng Lang to ridicule Wang Jingwen, Wang Seng Lang's son. Jiang Zhiyuan said solemnly, "I'm afraid there should be no such ridicule." The emperor was angry and said, "your Laozi, Jiang seng'an, is a fool. Of course, the sons of the same fool will love each other." After hearing this, Jiang Zhiyuan could not help but shed tears on his seat. From then on, the emperor's favor to him declined greatly. Jiang Zhiyuan went out of Beijing to serve as the king of Xin'an, Liu ziluan, the commander-in-chief of beizhonglang, the governor of nandonghai, and the general of Jiabai ningshuo. In the past, the emperor's favorite concubine, Yin, passed away. The emperor ordered his officials to discuss her posthumous title. Jiang Zhiyuan played it up and thought that the posthumous title was "Huai". The emperor thought that this was not enough to show the virtue of Yin's posthumous title, so he had hatred in his heart. Later, the emperor traveled to Nanshan and rode to Yin's cemetery. All the officials rode with him. The emperor pointed to the stone pillar of the cemetery with a whip and said to Jiang Zhidi, "the word 'Huai' is not allowed on it!" Jiang Zhiyuan was even more frightened. In the seventh year of the Ming Dynasty, he died of fear at the age of 46.
