Yang Yongfang (1908-1963), born in Tianjin in 1908, is a professor in Northwest University, mainly engaged in mathematics education.

Yang Yongfang (1908-1963), born in Tianjin in 1908, is a professor in Northwest University, mainly engaged in mathematics education. In the spring of 1926, Yang Yongfang graduated from Tianjin Tongwen Academy (later changed to "Sino Japanese middle school"). After graduating from high school, he was selected by the University as an official student to study in Japan. After going to Japan, he was admitted to the Mathematics Department of Tokyo Normal University and studied for 5 years. In April 1931, he was admitted to the Mathematics Department of northeast Imperial University of Sendai. In 1934, he received a Bachelor of science and returned to China after graduation. In the spring of 1935, Yang was a lecturer in the Department of mathematics and physics of the women's College of Arts and Sciences of Peking University. He was promoted to a professor in 1937. During that time, he also served as a part-time professor of Furen University. Yang Yongfang has been teaching and researching for a long time in the field of variable function theory, set theory, point set topology, generalized function and functional analysis. He is proficient in Japanese, English, French, German, Russian and other foreign languages, especially Japanese. In 1962, on the 25th anniversary of the founding of Northwest University, Yang Yongfang was honored as one of the "five elders" of the University. Since 1941, he has been a member of the school affairs committee of the Department of mathematics of Northwestern University; since 1947, he has been the chairman of the Department of Mathematics for a long time, making indelible contributions to the establishment and development of the Department of mathematics of Northwestern University. He died in Xi'an on September 24, 1963.
