Hou Dan (1204-1258), a native of Goushan (now Puqi town), Yueqing City, Zhejiang Province, was born in Song Dynasty. Three tribute to the township, two test transport division, are first, into the Ministry of rites examination, did not take, abandoned the text martial arts.
In 1247, he became an official by military examination. He successively served as a county magistrate of Hepu County (now Guangxi), a county magistrate of Liucheng (now Liuzhou), an official of Wei Bu army, a counsellor of Wei Ma army. In the fifth year of Baoyou (1257), he was transferred to Haizhou (now Lianyungang) as a general judge and counsellor of Henan Prefecture. In November of the next year, the rebel general Li Songshou (changed his name to Li Fan after he was demoted to the Yuan Dynasty) took charge of Shandong Province. He led his troops to attack Lianshui and Sizhou. He led his troops to fight against the enemy and died bravely. He was 55 years old. Haizhou also fell into enemy hands, and seven people including his family and his wife were killed at the same time. After hearing about the capital, 31 students reported the story of his family's heroic sacrifice to the imperial court, and ordered to set up temples in Haizhou and his hometown Yueqing at the same time, so as to show their loyalty and posthumous integrity. He is good at poetry and prose, and his poem "cold food" says: "the flowers are falling all over the ground, but I can't harvest them, and I can't sleep in the sound of Zigui. Poor families do not eat cold every day, so it is not necessary to ban smoking now. " Concern for the country and the people shows deep feelings. His works include frost cliff collection.
