Buddha Dora is an Indian. His religion is Buddhism.
The second record of the biography volume of song eminent monks: Buddhism, Dora, Hua Yan, Jue Jiu, beitianzhu (ji4: felt made of wool, etc.) So are the guests. (Note: the Tang Dynasty was known as Kashmir. Today, Kashmir in southwest Xinjiang is rich in sheep.) Come to the oath of the Luoyang, * * the White Horse Temple, translated the Great Square Guang felt the righteousness. What's the date of this recent translation? In addition, Wu Zhen (Zhen1: review) is false, but quan2: the truth of things Is it true that we know the time and the year? Don't look at the end of the rescue. In the middle of Dahe, kueifeng Mi Gong wrote a book, which was divided into two parts. Then it became a note. It was performed smoothly and abstrusely. Today, it is popular in Tokyo, Taiyuan and Sanshu. Chapter 39: in the sixth year of Yonghui reign of Emperor Gaozong of Tang Dynasty (655 AD), Dora, the Buddha of Kubin state, translated Dafang guangyuanjue's Sutra into a volume at Baima temple. The Chinese meaning of Buddha Dora is awakening and salvation. He was born in northern India. Qubin is the name of the country. It was called Kashmir in the Tang Dynasty. In the southwest of Xinjiang, it is called Kashmir in modern times. Sheep are abundant there. Buddha Dora brought Sanskrit sutras. (ancient Indians wrote the sutras on the leaves of Dora, called doraca.) He went to Baima temple in Luoyang, where he translated "Da Fang Guang Yuan Jue Yi Jing". As for how long it took to be proficient in Chinese and who helped translate it, there is no way to make textual research, so later generations suspect that it is a fake Scripture. In modern times, it is said that this sutra was translated from the Tang Dynasty. However, I don't know when it was translated. It can be seen that this Sutra has been doubted since ancient times. However, in order to promote Buddhism, we must carefully identify whether there are mistakes in this sutra. However, the results of the study need not be doubted. The truth explained in this sutra is not biased at all, and "the true interpretation is not fallacious". Since it is the true dharma, why do we have to know exactly what year and month it is translated? From the standpoint of protecting the Dharma, as long as the great meaning of the Sutra is correct, we don't have to dig too much in the textual research. When and where did Buddha Dora finally leave China? There is no information to check. During the Taihe period of the Tang Dynasty, the Buddhist master of Guifeng sect of Zen collated and annotated the "Yuanjue Sutra" and wrote one volume or two volumes as a book. Later, Zen master Guifeng continued to write, expounding the profound truth of Yuanjue Sutra. In Song Dynasty, "Yuanjue Jing" was popular in Liang, Taiyuan, Shanxi, and Sichuan provinces of bian4, Tokyo. In addition, according to the records of "Volume 39 of the records of the Buddha", in the sixth year of Yonghui reign of Emperor Gaozong of Tang Dynasty, that is, in 655 ad, Dora, the Buddha of bin state, interpreted and translated the volume of "Yuanjue Jing" in Baima temple.
