Life
Yu Jin was a Jinshi in the ninth year of Shunzhi (1652). He was first granted the title of magistrate of Fengqiu County in Henan Province. In the 16th year, he was the imperial censor of Shanxi Province, and then the imperial censor of Henan Province. When he was a child, he studied in a rural school. When he heard that Wei Zhongxian was disorderly in politics and that the play was impeachment, the teacher was very surprised and praised: "this is a piece of material to make up for the deficiency.". When the officials sealed the mound, the Yellow River burst and the mound was flooded. They agreed with the canal messengers to divert the branch river to divide the water potential, build long levees to prevent collapse and overflow, and clean up the beaches to protect the people. At the same time, they gathered the fleeing people, opened up wasteland, eliminated extra taxes, reduced corvee and penalty, cleaned themselves and loved the people, and improved the situation in the county. At that time, the people suffered the most, but there was no such thing as Bao Huang. Because people fled and wasteland was everywhere, the imperial court decided to raise people for reclamation and set up xingtun road and xingtun hall for management. In the early days, the people were all willing to follow, and the amount of rent was higher than that of mature land, which made the cultivated land desolate again. However, the imperial court used this as the basis for the evaluation of officials, so the counties competed to make false reports, and even spread the grain of wasteland on the cooked land, which made the people miserable and full of complaints. When governor Li Shengwu visited Fengqiu, Yu Jin led him to the wilderness to witness the famine. The governor then spared himself from exaggeration. Yu Jin was honest and upright, restrained the powerful, and attacked the unscrupulous merchants and witches, so Zhongzhou was the first to govern. In the book of four wishes, he admonished Kangxi to observe himself. Later, Wu Sangui, Geng Jingzhong, and Shang Kaixi rebelled as expected. All the intellectuals admired Yu Jin's foresight. He became an official in 1957. Together with Jiang Xizhe, he helped Yao Qixiu, the local official, to build the Sanjiang sluice. His works include Da Guan Tang Ji, Xu Bao Yue Lu, Jia Xun, etc.
