Mrs. Xi
Mrs. Xi (date of birth and death unknown), surnamed GUI, is one of the four beauties of the spring and Autumn period. She is the daughter of Chen zhuanggong, the leader of the state of Chen. She was born in wanqiu, the state of Chen (now Huaiyang County, Henan Province). She is also called Xi GUI because she married the king of the state of Xi.
When Xi GUI visited his relatives (when he said he was married), he passed through the state of CAI, but was teased by his brother-in-law, marquis CAI. After hearing this, marquis Xi revenged with the design of Chu state. King Wen of Chu took advantage of this opportunity to capture Marquis CAI. Knowing that Mrs. Xi was beautiful, he wanted to dominate Mrs. Xi. In a time of crisis, Mrs. Xi was willing to exchange herself for the people of the state of Chu, and she married into the state of Chu with amazing courage and insight and became Mrs. Chu. Xiong Qian, King Wen of Chu, was very fond of it. He built a Zijin Mountain in the other capital of Chu (now the southwest corner of Dengzhou) and built a peach blossom cave. There are many ancient cypresses on the mountain, temples and pavilions at the foot of the mountain, and springs beside the mountain. She became more and more refined and became a good wife of the king of Wen. Many suggestions were adopted by the king of Wen, such as recuperation, reserve of important officials, emphasis on education and strict governance of the harem. After the death of King Wen, he devoted all his efforts to assist the crown prince Xiong Yun. In addition to rebelling against Anbang, he attached great importance to diplomacy, selecting talents, forgiving the world, persuading farmers and mulberry, boldly reformed, and finally returned to the monarch, which laid the foundation for King Cheng of Chu and later kings of Chu to dominate the Central Plains.
Mrs. Xi has a distinct personality of refusing to serve others with sex and advocating women's self-reliance. She promotes the integration of the two cultures of Central Plains and Chu. She has a unique three-stage relationship with Marquis Cai, marquis Xi and the king of Chu. She has established four meritorious feats of going to disaster, persuading agriculture and mulberry, advocating the new deal and assisting children to dominate. As we all know, on the land of Henan Province, where Mrs. Xi passed, she built temples and erected steles, and was honored as the "God of peace". Now she is still the regional image card of Xi county in Henan Province.
Mrs. Xi's face is peerless, her eyes are like autumn water, and her face is like peach blossom. She is also called "Mrs. peach blossom" (because the peach blossom blooms on the day of birth, so she is called "Mrs. peach blossom"). After his death, he was buried in the peach blossom lady temple, also known as the Peach Blossom Temple. Now there is still Peach Blossom Temple in Xinyang County, Henan Province.
Life of the characters
Marquis Cai is rude
In the 10th year of Duke Zhuang of Lu (684 BC), Mrs. Xi married the king of state Xi. Mrs. Xi passed by the state of CAI when she got married. At that time, Mrs. Xi's sister married Cai aihou, the king of the state of CAI. Cai aihou said, "she is my wife's sister." So leave Mrs. Xi to meet, Cai AI Hou is rude to Mrs. Xi. Hearing this, marquis Xi was furious, so he sent someone to say to King Wen of Chu: "please pretend to attack our country. I'll ask for help from the state of CAI. Marquis AI of CAI will certainly send troops. If the state of Chu takes the opportunity to attack the state of CAI again, it will be able to build a war." King Wen of Chu obeyed the advice of marquis Xi. In September of the same year, Chu army defeated Cai army and captured Cai AI Hou in Xindi (now Runan County, Henan Province).
Death and marriage to Chu
In 680 B.C., marquis Cai AI was captured because of his defeat in Xindi. With resentment, he designed to retaliate against Marquis Xi, praising his wife's beauty in front of King Wen of Chu. When King Wen of Chu heard the words of marquis Cai AI, he wanted to get Mrs. Xi, so he came to the state of Xi in the name of cruising. Marquis Xi entertained King Wen of Chu. The king saw that Mrs. Xi was really beautiful. The next day, King Wen of Chu hosted a banquet for Xi Hou. He took the opportunity to capture Xi Hou by force and destroy the state of Xi, and let Xi Hou serve as a soldier guarding the city gate. After hearing the news, Mrs. Xi wanted to commit suicide in the well, but she was dissuaded. In order to protect the life of Hou holographic, Mrs. Xi had no choice but to marry King Wen of Chu.
Mrs. Xi entered the Chu palace for three years and gave birth to two sons for King Wen of Chu: Chu Du AO and Chu Cheng Wang. Mrs. Xi never took the initiative to speak. When the king of Chu asked her why, Mrs. Xi replied, "I'm a woman, serving two husbands. Even if I can't die, what can I say?" King Wen of Chu thought that it was because of CAI AI Hou that Xi state was destroyed, so he sent troops to attack Cai state.
Two sons kill each other
In 677 BC, King Wen of Chu died and Chu Du Ao, the eldest son of Mrs. Xi, succeeded to the throne.
In the 22nd year of Duke Zhuang of Lu (672 BC), Chu Du Ao wanted to kill the second son of Madam Xi, King Cheng of Chu. King Cheng of Chu fled to suiguo, and then colluded with suiguo to kill Chu Du Ao, so he became king. At that time, King Cheng of Chu was young, and the military power fell into the hands of the younger brother Ling Ziyuan of King Wen of Chu.
The rebellion of Ziyuan
Ziyuan wanted to seduce Mrs. Xi because he was greedy for the beauty of her sister-in-law, so he built a house beside her palace and danced in it. When Mrs. Xi heard this, she cried and said, "Xianjun asked people to dance this dance, which is used to exercise combat readiness. Isn't it strange that Ling Yin is now used next to a widow instead of an enemy? " The waiter told Ziyuan. Ziyuan said: "women don't forget to attack enemies, but I forget."
In the thirtieth year of Duke Zhuang of Lu (664 BC), Ziyuan went to the palace and openly teased Mrs. Xi. Ruo Ao's Archer finds Ziyuan and denounces him for his immortality. Instead, he is imprisoned by Ziyuan. The ruo'ao family had endured the arrogance and domineering of Ziyuan for a long time, and Ziyuan was even more furious when he did such a humiliating, dignified and ordinary thing and imprisoned the dousheshi. At this point, ruo'ao's family made a quick decision. At that time, the Douban of Shen Gong led the crowd into the palace and killed Ziyuan angrily, calming down the rebellion of Ziyuan which lasted for eight years.
Since then, Mrs. Xi has lived in seclusion in the deep palace, regardless of political affairs. There are many different versions of Mrs. Xi's ending.
Character influence
Mrs. Xi, also known as Mrs. peach blossom, is the daughter of the monarch of the state of Chen in the spring and Autumn period. Because she married the monarch of the state of Xi, she was called Xi GUI (GUI is the surname of the state of Chen) or Mrs. Xi.
In the spring and Autumn period, there were more than 170 vassal states in the Scriptures. They worked independently, attacked each other and merged. The Central Plains was even more disturbing. Since the "Chengpu war" between Jin and Chu, two big barriers have been formed between the north and the south. The rest of the small countries either rely on Jin or attach themselves to Chu and rely on the protection of the powerful country to survive. There is a slight difference. At any time, the disaster of burning jade and stone will come.
In order to survive, countries often collude with each other. They are separated from each other. They all rely on their own interests as the starting point. Some countries even fight against each other for a small matter. Cai aihou and Xi Hou are typical examples. Among them, the innocent victims are Mrs. Xi.
Anecdotes
Taohua Temple
After the death of the state of Xi, marquis Xi was captured and became the gatekeeper of the capital of the state of Chu. Mrs. Xi was favored in the palace of Chu. Three years passed quickly. Mrs. Xi gave birth to two sons for King Wen of Chu, but she never said a word. King Wen of Chu was very puzzled that she had to tell the truth. Mrs. Xi was helpless, and then she said with tears streaming down her face: "I'm a woman but I'm a husband, If you can't die chastely, how can you speak to others? "
In the twinkling of an eye, the autumn wind blows and the Osmanthus fragrans are fragrant. King Wen of Chu happily goes out to hunt in the city and is expected to return to the palace in two or three days. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Mrs. Xi quietly ran to the gate of the city to meet her husband. When they met, they were separated from each other. Mrs. Xi cried and said, "I'm in the Chu palace. At first, I'm trying to save the king's life. Then I want to see the king. Now my wish is over and I'm dead."
Marquis Xi was heartbroken and comforted Mrs. Xi: "Heaven sees pity, there must be a reunion day. I'm willing to be a small official in the city. I'm still waiting for the chance of reunion."
Mrs. Xi thinks that it's better to give up generously than to live a miserable life. So she tries her best to run against the city wall, but he can't stop her. She sees her wife die. In order to repay Mrs. Xi's affection, he was killed under the city.
When King Wen of Chu came back from hunting, he was sad to hear about it. He was moved by their feelings and buried Marquis Xi and his wife together on the peach blossom mountain outside Hanyang city. Later generations built ancestral temples at the foot of the mountain and worshiped them at four seasons, which is called "peach blossom lady Temple", also known as Peach Blossom Temple. It is still one of the famous places in Hanyang prefecture (now Hanyang District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province).
Du Mu, a poet of the Tang Dynasty, once paid homage to the temple when he passed by Hanyang
In the palace of slender waist, peach blossoms are new, and the pulse is silent for several years.
After all, it's a matter of fate. I'm sorry for the man who fell from the building in Jingu.
This poem is gentle and honest, which gives us the taste of eternal hardship and death. If a delicate woman wants to save her husband's life, she has to face the cruel reality with indecency and humiliation. And three years without saying a word, that is to say, I have made a firm and resolute challenge and struggle against everything in front of me.
Commemoration of later generations
The tablet of Mrs. Xi is located in the courtyard of the people's Government of Xi county, Xinyang City, Henan Province. The monument is 1.3 meters high and 0.63 meters wide. It was erected in 1872. The inscription is fourteen lines and thirty-four characters. Zhang Peixun is described as Mrs. Xi's dialectic and praised as his patriotic wife.
