Guangdong Museum of revolutionary history (Guangzhou Museum of Modern History)
)Founded in 1959, it is the earliest special revolutionary history museum built in Guangdong Province and subordinate to Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of culture. Our museum is located in the cemetery of Guangzhou Uprising martyrs, Zhongshan Third Road, Guangzhou city. The environment is elegant and green. In order to fully reflect the development of modern history in Guangzhou (from the Opium War to the founding of the people's Republic of China), on the basis of the Guangdong Revolutionary History Museum, the Guangzhou Municipal Establishment Committee approved the establishment of the Guangzhou Modern History Museum on July 23, 1996, with two Museum plates in one building. There are more than 10000 pieces (sets) of cultural relics and documents and more than 25000 historical photos in the museum.
Museum overview
In order to fully reflect the development of modern history in Guangzhou (from the Opium War to the founding of the people's Republic of China), on the basis of the Guangdong Revolutionary History Museum, the Guangzhou Municipal Establishment Committee approved the establishment of the Guangzhou Modern History Museum on July 23, 1996, with two Museum plates in one building.
The Guangdong Museum of revolutionary history is now in charge of 18 revolutionary sites, ancient buildings and modern historical and cultural relics, mainly including the former site of Huangpu Military Academy, the former site of all China Federation of trade unions, the former site of Guangzhou commune, the former site of Guangdong District Committee of the Communist Party of China, the former site of Vietnam revolutionary youth comrades Association, the former site of Guangdong Advisory Bureau, the former site of Huangpu Customs branch, and the tomb of foreigners In addition, it is also used in the construction of baihegang fort. Among them, the former sites of Guangdong Advisory Bureau, Huangpu Military Academy, all China Federation of trade unions and Guangzhou commune are national key cultural relics protection units. In addition, there are 3 provincial cultural relics protection units and 1 municipal cultural relics protection unit. In recent years, our library has actively carried out the construction of patriotism education bases, including one provincial patriotism education base, two municipal patriotism education bases, one national defense education base and one designated military training base in Guangzhou.
Organization setup
Guangdong Revolutionary History Museum has one curator, one secretary and two deputy curators, and seven departments (rooms) including office, exhibition department, research room, storage department, propaganda and education department, Memorial Hall of the former site of Huangpu Military Academy and security section. The library has a strong business force with 60 employees, including 35 with bachelor degree or above, 9 associate research librarians and 14 librarians.
daily activities
Our services include exhibition guidance and explanation, playing historical documentaries, undertaking all kinds of exhibitions, design and production, providing small exhibition venues and conference rooms, copying cultural relics, etc. in addition, we have set up the youth training base of Huangpu Military Academy in the former site of Huangpu Military Academy to receive and organize military training and human resources training for teenagers from all over the country, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
