The protection of Tingzhou Confucian temple also experienced some setbacks. For example, in 1980, the Lingxing gate was demolished and a four story cultural building was built, which damaged the integrity of the Confucian temple and lost the style of cultural relics. In 1995, according to the strong demand of the broad masses of the people, the county government returned the Confucian temple to its original historical appearance and decided to demolish the cultural building, set up the Confucian temple maintenance Council, extensively raised funds to rebuild the Lingxing gate and restore the original style of Tingzhou Confucian temple.
