Furong tunnel is located inside Xiamen University, next to Furong restaurant. It is the longest graffiti tunnel in China and one of the main scenic spots of Xiamen University. The tunnel started construction in 2005. It starts from furongyuan student canteen in Xiamen University Campus in the west, passes through Shishan in the way, and ends at the entrance of student apartment in Xiamen University in the East. The tunnel is 1.01 km long, mainly for pedestrians and non motor vehicles. After the completion of the tunnel, there are more and more graffiti. These beautiful graffiti are painted by Xiamen University.

Tunnel history

However, the school didn't know what happened, so it replaced the tunnel lighting on June 23, 2009! Using low wattage warm color energy-saving bulbs to replace the previous fluorescent tubes, and the number is also greatly reduced! Although environmental protection and money saving, it makes the tunnel become oppressive.

The graffiti in the tunnel develops from the headquarters and Zeng cuo'an to the center respectively, and the themes are very different: the headquarters belongs to the sky flying creative area, and you can draw anything you want; Zeng cuo'an is relatively heavy, with the theme of commemorating 5.12, some people feel very sad when they see it. It's OK to remember the pain once, but it's a constant tear in people's heart when they recall the pain repeatedly

Compared with other scenic spots, the tunnel is more closed and secretive, and many unconscious tourists scribble freely in the tunnel. The Furong tunnel has the same experience as the Bishan tunnel on Gulangyu Island. This tunnel, built in the 1970s, connects Anhai road in the East and neicuowo road in the West. It is a must for many tourists. Originally cool and quiet tunnel, it is hard to escape being "here for a tour".
