Shenlingzhai National Forest Park is located in Luoning County, Henan Province, 17 kilometers southeast of the county seat, in Sanguanmiao forest farm at the north foot of Xionger mountain, 90 kilometers east of the ancient capital Luoyang. It is a National Forest Park and a national geopark. It is one of the top ten eco-tourism bases in Henan Province.

With a total area of more than 5300 hectares, there are more than 2200 kinds of plants, 300 kinds of animals, and more than 160 scenic spots. It is a comprehensive Geopark with typical granite waterfall landform, water natural landscape, natural ecological landscape as the main, and Heluo culture as the auxiliary.

Shenlingyue Temple started as a temple and was later called a temple by Liu Bang, Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty.

Construction process

Since 2001, Luoning County has invested 28 million yuan to improve the infrastructure and supporting service facilities of shenlingzhai National Forest Park.

On September 20, 2003, shenlingzhai Forest Park won the title of National Forest Park.

In September 2005, shenlingzhai was designated as a "National Geopark", and a geological museum and a signboard of Geopark were built.

On April 22, 2011, the granite waterfall group landscape in the scenic spot was jointly rated as "the top ten beautiful geological landscapes in Henan Province" by the Department of land and resources of Henan Province and the Geological Society of Henan Province.

In June 2012, shenlingzhai scenic spot was awarded the title of "Henan ecological civilization education base" by Henan forestry department, Henan Education Department and Henan Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League.

Henan Luoning shenlingzhai geological museum is located in the west of shenlingzhai scenic spot parking lot. It is adjacent to the tourist service center. It is an important part of Henan Luoning shenlingzhai National Geopark.

The Museum covers an area of 490 square meters and is divided into six exhibition halls, namely, comprehensive hall, earth hall, stone waterfall hall, ecological hall, Heluo hall and multi-function hall. It is an ideal place for science popularization and cultural education. In addition to the traditional display mode of pictures and words, the geological museum also adopts a new display mode of concise diagrams, model combination, rock and mineral specimens, scenes, sound and photoelectric and other display languages.

Pinus bungeana group

Pinus bungeana is a first-class protected plant in China. Because of its fine white wood, it is also called Pinus bungeana. It is one of the excellent tree species for landscaping. It's a famous ornamental tree species in China. It's rare to see a large area of Pinus bungeana natural community in the north. When you enter the Shenshen ancient temple area and walk along the mountain ridge, a three needle pine will accompany you along the cliff. The trunk is in the shape of camouflage clothes and graceful. This is the largest natural community of Pinus bungeana in western Henan.

Shenlingzhai has a long history of bamboo planting, with a large area of bamboo forest rarely seen in the north. It is the highest latitude bamboo origin in the world. With a history of more than 4000 years, it is a genuine original bamboo forest. At the same time, it grows at 34 degrees and 38 minutes north latitude, and is one of the highest bamboo forests in the world. It is a rare landscape in the north.

Shenshenyue Temple

Sister waterfall

According to the geological department, the riverbed of shenlingzhai is 2654m thick granite batholith. Due to the hard rock structure, the ups and downs of shenlingzhai gorge are formed, resulting in many waterfalls of different sizes, heights and shapes. This kind of geomorphic structure is called "rock sill and water drop" in geology. Rock sill refers to the bedrock protrusion or scarp on the riverbed. It is a kind of water flow landform.
