On November 7, 1926, after the founding of the Yunnan local organization of the Communist Party of China, it led the people of all ethnic groups in a hard and heroic struggle. At the end of 1930, the Yunnan party organization of the Communist Party of China was seriously damaged, and the main leaders of the provincial Party committee and a large number of revolutionary comrades died.
In 1935 and 1936, the Central Red Army and the second and sixth Red Army regiments respectively passed through Yunnan during the long march. The Yunnan detachment persisted in fighting in the Sichuan Yunnan Guizhou border region for 12 years. Before that, in 1934, the seventh Red Army in Guangxi sent cadres to Funing, Yunnan, to form the labor and peasant guerrillas in the border area of Yunnan, Guizhou and Guangxi, and persisted in the struggle until the liberation of Funing. In 1935, the local Party organizations in Yunnan were restored and rebuilt, united with the people of all walks of life in the province, and carried out an in-depth and extensive Anti Japanese and national salvation movement. The 58 and 60 armies of Yunnan army went to the front line of Anti Japanese War and fought bravely in Taierzhuang, Zhongtiaoshan and other battles. Tens of thousands of soldiers and soldiers spilled their blood on the battlefield.
During the war of liberation, Yunnan local organizations of the Communist Party of China led the patriotic and democratic movements such as "one two one" in cities. After 1948, the underground Party of Yunnan launched a large-scale armed struggle in the vast rural areas of the province, and finally liberated Yunnan with the help of field forces.
In February 1950, the second field and fourth corps of the Chinese people's Liberation Army successfully entered Kunming. On February 24, commander Chen Geng solemnly announced at the provincial meeting of cadres above the prefecture division level that Yunnan was completely liberated.
As early as December 1950, the first people's Congress of Yunnan province adopted a resolution to establish a monument to the people's Heroes in Kunming in order to forever remember the immortal contributions of the heroes.
It was officially completed on February 24, 1995. It is a monument that Yunnan people can be proud of.
Monument description
