Chinese food culture has a long history. It is the embodiment of the natural climate, geographical environment, water and soil products, cultural tradition, values and lifestyle of a nation and a region. It is the result of people's long-term working together, living together and abiding by certain rules. There are two sayings in China since ancient times, one is "food is the most important thing for the people", the other is "enough food and clothing means honor and Disgrace". The industrious and intelligent Chinese people are not only good at eating, but also good at culture. Since ancient times, Chinese people have their own unique eating habits and customs, with superb cooking and all kinds of food processing skills. The discovery of Beiqiu site in Shenghe, nanheng District, Dongguan, which is known as "the first village in the Pearl River Delta" by archaeologists, tells us that people lived in groups in the Neolithic age, and opens a prelude to the study of the development of Dongguan's catering culture.
Since the reform and opening up, millions of professionals from all walks of life have gathered in Dongguan, which has accelerated the economic development of Dongguan. The material basis of Dongguan's diet is richer, and the diet customs are more colorful. The famous dishes and customs brought by the catering industry and migrant workers from all over the world have been mixed and subtly influenced. The food and customs in Dongguan are more brilliant. But at the same time, the traditional food customs and cultural relics in Dongguan were also impacted. We urgently need to excavate and rescue them, so the Dongguan food customs museum was established.
Exhibition
The museum exhibition is mainly divided into two parts. One part shows the people's working style, cooking utensils, delicacies and tableware in Dongguan over the past five thousand years. The other part shows the catering characteristics, traditional festivals, wedding customs and the development trend of catering culture in Dongguan. The exhibition starts from the origin of Dongguan's food customs, showing the topography, farming scenes and old kitchens of Dongguan with landscape; showing Dongguan's food with models; showing food customs, seasonal food, wedding and birthday food and tea drinking customs with pictures.
Basic Display
Through three ways of picture display, physical exhibition and scene restoration, Dongguan food custom museum can let the audience know the historical origin of Dongguan food culture and tell the folk customs of Dongguan water people from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China. The total exhibition area is 923 square meters.
Dongguan (fishing, farming and woodcutting) Landscape: the exhibition hall skillfully uses the space design to move the exhibition content to the scene design without any trace. The exquisite and lifelike life scenes and farming scenes of Dongguan water people will recall the bitter memories of modern people's childhood. The exhibition hall will systematically introduce various cultural relics such as iron plow, iron rake, bamboo fence, Shau Kei, shoulder pole, old sprinkling bucket, old water truck, old straw bucket, clam rake, fish net, etc. It reflects the strong contrast between the old manual operation of agricultural production and the modern full mechanization in Dongguan.
Snack making exhibition and (sugar, oil) Exhibition: the content is more colorful. It is a collection of snack culture in the Pearl River Delta area, and specially made some models about eating in season. This part is the favorite and most wanted part of customers, including dongtuan, mage, xiantangwan, xianyulong, TANGHUAN, Youjiao, Ludui, liangbutuan, Baitang cake, Wanzai cake, meidou cake, etc. These famous traditional snacks are not only delicious, but also display a large number of cultural relics, such as pestle mortar, bamboo plate, bamboo sieve, gas dead ant double lip jar, big and small old hand basket, old rice barrel, old dishwashing basin, etc., which are made by Dongguan people for small food. The appearance of food coupons and meat coupons shows that the history of food culture in Dongguan is based on evidence, and Dongguan people are rich in heritage The pragmatic spirit of unification.
(bowls, chopsticks and chopsticks) Exhibition: there are many items on display, including flower bowls, Jigong bowls, kuikou double series green glazed bottles, Shuangfeng bottles, Guxi soup cups and ginseng cups, green glazed bottles, multicolored cans, Ming and Qing series, Douqing series and chopsticks tubes of various periods. These are all early edible utensils. It can be seen that the ancestors did not regard diet as the need for food, but also included it in the category of culture and art. According to reports, Chinese restaurants are everywhere where there are Chinese in the world today, which shows the strong influence of China's catering culture and can be called a shining pearl in the treasure house of Chinese culture. China is a country of etiquette, which has always attached great importance to customs. Louyao of Song Dynasty once said: "the vitality of a country lies in the customs, and the foundation of customs is actually the outline of the times. Zheng Xiaoze of the Ming Dynasty said: "the so-called customs of a husband's life are applied to the imperial court, spread all over the world, and run through the people's hearts. They are related to Qi luck, and should not be ignored." After thousands of years of evolution, Chinese food customs have played an immeasurable role in people's life. And these tableware are the witness of history.
