Wanyao village is an ancient kiln making village. In recent years, a "Wanyao Museum" has been built, and the couplet of "Wanyao Museum" says: "the history of building kilns in Sanli village. It's a hundred years of history
Wanyao Museum
Bowl kiln museum is located in Cangnan County, Zhejiang Province.
Wan kiln was named after the village for making bowls and firing kilns. In Ming Dynasty, it belonged to the 37th capital of Guiren Township, Pingyang County, and there were many rocks in the stream bed at the entrance of the village, so it used to be called Jiaotan Wan kiln. It is divided into three parts: Shangyao, Xiayao and Banling. Shangyao was first developed, Xiayao took the second place, and Banling was later filled up, gradually forming a village. Later, due to the construction of pier reservoir, Xiayao was demolished from Qimu Tiandong to Shuiwei, accounting for nearly two-thirds of the village. Now only Shangyao and Banling are left.
Development history
The pottery "Golden Vase" unearthed during the expansion of the Wanyao Museum infers that the Wanyao had been inhabited in the Yuan Dynasty. According to Wu's genealogy, in 1575 A.D., Wu rengong, the 37th Potter of the Wu family, was born in gutianli, Liancheng County, minting Prefecture When they moved here, they had both water, clay (kaolin) and firewood, which was suitable for the ecological environment of making bowls and porcelain. So they settled in TIANYAO (upper part of the kiln, now destroyed) to pioneer and cut trees, dig ditches to draw water, and build kilns to make porcelain.
On November 15, the bowl kiln Museum of folk ceramic culture in Qiaodun Town, Cangnan County opened to welcome guests. It is one of the few non-profit folk museums in our province, funded by dozens of mine owners.
At its peak in the middle and late Qing Dynasty, there were 18 class kilns, hundreds of workshops, and 10 shuidui and niliao kilns. Each kiln can accommodate the products made by 200 craftsmen, plus raw materials, fuel suppliers, transportation operators, purchasers, commercial service personnel, and the relatives of the old and young of handicraft workers, the village has a population of tens of thousands. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, the production technology of bowl kiln radiated to Xialong and dingbutou, and down to the pier yuanjiao. Bowl kiln has become an important folk kiln town in southern Zhejiang.
After liberation, bowl kiln craftsmen responded to the call of the government and organized the establishment of junior and senior porcelain cooperatives. During this period, some of them used molding and grouting technology to produce fine porcelain products. In 1957, with the construction of the reservoir at the pier, the village's ceramic handicraftsmen migrated to Qiaodun town and founded the former Pingyang County ceramic factory. All the buildings under the kiln were demolished, leaving only the upper kiln to continue production, and the bowl kiln became the "daily porcelain workshop" attached to the ceramic factory. In the early 1990s, the daily coarse porcelain in Wanyao village was gradually shut down due to the shrinking market. Most of the villagers moved to the bridge piers and settled down, while a few of them went out to engage in the mining industry. At present, there are only more than 70 permanent residents in the village. However, the original ceramic production technology and workshops still exist, and the architectural form of the village remains the same.
