Jianchuan County is located in the northwest of Yunnan Province and the north of Dali Prefecture. The county is 58 kilometers from east to west and 55 kilometers from north to south, with a total area of 2318 square kilometers, of which 87.78% is mountainous area. With a total population of 174600 (in 2006), there are Bai, Han, Yi, Lisu, Hui, Naxi and other ethnic groups, which are the main Bai inhabited counties in the prefecture. Jianchuan County governs 5 towns and 3 townships. There are 5 neighborhood committees and 88 administrative villages. The county government is located in Jinhua town.
The territory is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. The main mountains are Laojun Mountain, Shibao mountain, Jinhua mountain, Yanlu mountain, Xueban mountain, etc. There are copper, iron, lead, zinc, coal, salt rock. 214 National Road, Dian (South) six (Library) highway, Ping (slope) Dian (South) highway across the county. There are national key cultural relics protection units, Shizhong temple and Shiya of Tang Dynasty, provincial cultural relics protection units, such as the statue of King Tianshan and Baohe temple in Jinhua mountain, and Shibaoshan national scenic spot.
In 2013, the GDP of Jianchuan County reached 2.332 billion yuan, an increase of 15.6%. The total revenue was 357 million yuan, an increase of 18.82%.
On January 22, 2020, it was named National Garden County by the Ministry of housing and urban rural development.
On May 17, 2020, it will officially withdraw from the poverty-stricken counties.
Historical evolution
Jianchuan was Yeyu County in the Western Han Dynasty, belonging to Yizhou county;
The Eastern Han Dynasty belongs to Yongchang County; the Shu Han Dynasty belongs to Yunnan county;
In the early Tang Dynasty, it belonged to the governor's office of Yaozhou, jiannandao; in the Nanzhao period, it was jianlangzhao; yimouxun recovered the Tieqiao (today's Judian) and set up Jianchuan Jiedu (the Tieqiao where he was governed);
In the Song Dynasty, Dali belonged to the government of Mou Tong, where Jianchuan was set as the governor and Beijin as the governor;
In the Yuan Dynasty, Jianchuan set up thousands of Yidu households. In the eighth year of the Yuan Dynasty (1271 A.D.), Jianchuan County was changed from thousands of Yidu households to Heqing road;
In the Ming Dynasty, Jianchuan County was upgraded to Jianchuan Prefecture, which was subordinate to Heqing Prefecture;
In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Lijiang Prefecture. In 1913, it was changed to Jianchuan County. In 1914, it belonged to Tengyue Dao. In 1944, it belonged to Lijiang administrative supervision district.
On April 2, 1949, the Northwest Yunnan Working Committee of the Communist Party of China launched an armed uprising in Jianchuan to overthrow the Kuomintang county government and establish the people's armed regime in Jianchuan County; on August 1, the administrative committee was established; in September, the office of the Northwest Yunnan administrative commissioner was established in Jianchuan; and on October 1, the people's Government of Jianchuan County was formally established.
At the beginning of 1950, the special office moved to Heqing, and then to Lijiang in March, which was renamed Lijiang administrative region.
In August 1956, Jianchuan was assigned to Dali Prefecture, and fule and Xinmin in Lanping County were assigned to Jianchuan County.
In October 1958, Jianchuan was merged with Eryuan and Dengchuan and named Jianchuan County.

Jianchuan is located in the northwest of Yunnan Province and the north of Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture. It is adjacent to Heqing in the East, Eryuan in the south, Lanping and Yunlong in the West and Lijiang in the north. The county is 58 km from east to west and 55 km from north to south, covering an area of about 2250 square kilometers. Jianchuan is located between the national historical and cultural city and the provincial tourist resort Dali and Lijiang, and the Yunnan Tibet highway 214 runs through the county.
Topography
The terrain in Jianchuan is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. The main mountain ranges are Laojun Mountain, Shibao mountain, Jinhua mountain, Yanlu mountain, Xueban mountain, etc., and the mountain area accounts for 87.78%. The altitude of the county is 2200 meters, the altitude of the main peak of Xueban mountain, the highest point in the county, is 4295.3 meters, and the altitude of miziping, the lowest point, is 1973 meters. The geomorphic types in the county are complex, with an altitude difference of more than 2300 meters.

There are many rivers and 219600 kW of hydropower resources. The Northwest Yunnan power grid connecting Sichuan and Yunnan provinces and four prefectures meets in Jianchuan. Jianchuan is located in Jinsha River, Lancang River, Nujiang River metallogenic belt, with copper, iron, coal, granite and other mineral resources, adjacent to Lanping lead-zinc mine. Flue cured tobacco, kidney bean, Tricholoma matsutake, ginseng, behenia, medicinal materials and so on are the characteristic biological resources that can be developed.
