There are three artificial islands in the West Lake: xiaoyingzhou (Santan Yinyue), huxinting (North Tower Base) and ruangongdun. Ruan gongdun was dredged by Ruan Yuan, the governor of Zhejiang Province in the fifth year of Jiaqing Dynasty (18000). After dredging the West Lake, it was piled up into an island with fengni, so it was later called Ruan gongdun. Because of its low mud and soft ground, it is often flooded by lake water, so it is called Ruan tan. After ruangongdun became an island, it was green with miscellaneous trees, luxuriant with vines and grasses.
In 1981, huanbi villa was built on the island. This is a manor style garden built in imitation of the pattern of private villas in the south of the Yangtze River. Its name is huanbi, which tells people her unique advantages of taking advantage of the scenery of lakes and mountains. In the village, it is revealed that it is bigger than Lin Yu. It is flaunting with the wind and has a very ancient style.
The manor is surrounded by a low fence on the island, and the bamboo Pavilion in the thatched cottage in the garden is light and dexterous, with green surrounding buildings, cloud and water residences, etc. In front of and behind the court, there are Cinnamomum camphora, Pterocarya stenoptera, Osmanthus fragrans, Lagerstroemia indica, Xiuzhu, plantain, ivy, etc., which not only seek seclusion, but also pay attention to simplicity. On the edge of the island near the water, don't set up the pavilion of recalling Yuntai, which means that Ruan Yuntai (Ruan Yuanhao Yuntai) managed the lake, piled the island and left the West Lake.
The interior furnishings of huanbizhuang building are simple and elegant. In the daytime, boat visitors can enjoy tea and drink here; in the evening, a group of "servants" and "maids" led by the villa master "Yuanwai" wear classical costumes to participate in antique recreational activities with visitors.

historical background
Ruan Dun ring Bi "Ruan Dun" is Ruan gongdun. It is the smallest of the three West Lake islands. Ruan Yuan, the governor of Zhejiang Province in the Qing Dynasty, mobilized migrant workers to dredge the West Lake, which was formed by the accumulation of silt in the lake. Later generations in memory of his dredging work, known as Ruan gongdun.
After Ruan gongdun was built, because the foundation of the island was soft, there were no other buildings on the island except willows. Some people jokingly called it "Ruan gongdun". In 1982, the Department of landscape architecture laid out the layout of the island and built pavilions, pavilions, halls and pavilions with green bamboo structure. The shape is simple and elegant. Now, there are bamboo houses on the island, such as yunshuiju, Yiyun Pavilion and huanbi Xiaozhu. Because of the shimmering green waves outside the island and the lush vegetation on the island, it is called huanbizhuang, which is called "Ruan Dun huanbi". Now it is the first fishing area in West Lake.
Ruan gongdun's characteristic is the antique night tour held every summer and autumn. The night tour recreates the lively scene of the ancient manor owners and their families receiving guests. The program is updated every year. In recent years, the program "Qianlong goes to Jiangnan" has been launched. After the guests have settled down in the bamboo house in Maoting, they drink tea and listen to music. The heat of summer and the tiredness of the day suddenly dissipate. To "Ruan Dun huanbi", you have to take a boat from the docks of the lake.
Name evolution
Since the Southern Song Dynasty moved its capital, it has brought unprecedented prosperity to the West Lake. Following the example of the Song Dynasty, the people of Yuan Dynasty set up the ten sceneries of Yuan Dynasty, including Liuqiao Yanliu, Jiuli Yunsong, Lingshi Qiaoge, Gushan Jixue, Beiguan night market, Geling Chaolong, Zhejiang Qiutao, Lengquan simixiao, Liangfeng Baiyun and Xihu night moon.
In the Qing Dynasty, Ruan Dun huanbi built 18 new sceneries, including Hushan Chunshe, Gongde Chongfang, Haixia Xishuang, Meilin Guihe, Yuma Qiurong, Lianchi songshe, Baoshi Fengting, tingwan riding and shooting, Jiaoshi Mingqin, Yuquan Yuyue, Fengling Songtao, Huxin pingting, Wushan grand view, Tianzhu Xiangshi, yunqifanjing, taoguang sea view and Xixi Meitan.

After that, the latest ten scenes of the West Lake were selected by the 2007 West Lake Expo in Hangzhou, China, including Lingyin Zen trace, Liuhe Tingtao, Yuemu Qixia, Hubin Qingyu, Qianci biaozhong, Wansong Shuyuan, Yangdi Jingxing, Santai Yunshui, Meiwu chunzao and Beijie Mengxun.
Architectural pattern
In 1981, huanbi villa was built on the island. This is a manor style garden built in imitation of the pattern of private villas in the south of the Yangtze River. It is famous as huanbi. It is intended to tell people that Ruan Dun has the unique advantages of lakes and mountains. The manor is surrounded by bamboo fences on the island, and the bamboo Pavilion in the thatched cottage in the garden is light and dexterous, with green surrounding buildings, cloud and water residences, etc. In front of and behind the court, there are Cinnamomum camphora, Pterocarya stenoptera, Osmanthus fragrans, Lagerstroemia indica, Xiuzhu, plantain, and ivy. They not only seek tranquility, but also pay attention to simplicity. The wine flag is high and sways with the wind, which is quite ancient. On the edge of the island, near the water, there is another "Yiyun Pavilion" to recall Ruan Yuntai (Ruan Yuan No. Yuntai) for managing the lake, piling up the island and leaving behind the West Lake.
The furnishings in huanbizhuang are simple and elegant. Since the holding of the antique tour, on summer and autumn nights, the maid in ancient costume has served tea, accompanied by guqin, singing and dancing, and filled with the atmosphere of ancient people's life, in which tourists enjoy pottery. Visitors by boat can enjoy tea here; as night falls, the candle light is bright, and a group of servants and maids led by the old member of the villa master are dressed in ancient costumes to drink wine and recite poems with visitors.
In the fifth year of the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty, Ruan Yuan, governor of Zhejiang Province, dredged the West Lake. When he dredged the West Lake, migrant workers dug out more than 14000 tons of silt and piled it up. Due to the soft soil, it is not suitable to build villas, and it has been deserted for more than 100 years. Until 1981, in order to develop tourism resources, more than 1000 tons of soil was added to the 8.5 Mu island. The surrounding area was reinforced with stone blocks. More than 240 square meters of "Yiyun Pavilion", "yunshuiju" and "huanbi Xiaozhu" buildings were built. Later, the fishing area was set up. "Huanbizhuang" formed a water garden with Jiangnan characteristics.
