architectural style
From the Bank of West Lake to the foot of Geling, you can see a yellow archway with brick and stone structure. After passing the archway, I went up the stairs and soon arrived at the gate of baopu Taoist temple. The courtyard wall outside the gate rises and falls with the mountains, just like a swimming Yellow Dragon. Therefore, it is called "Dragon Wall" and is one of the scenic spots of baopu Taoist temple.
The main hall of baopu Taoist temple is Gexian hall, dedicated to gexianweng (Gehong). On the east side of Gexian hall are Hongmei Pavilion, baopulu and banxiantang, all of which are exquisite and unique. They are typical southern courtyard buildings. There is a woodcut Gallery in Hongmei Pavilion, in which the story of Li huiniang is very eye-catching. Banxiantang is the place where Jia Sidao, Prime Minister of Southern Song Dynasty, was seeking pleasure. Now, the hall worships the real statue of Cihang. Around the Taoist temple are gexian'an stele, shuangqian spring, alchemy well, alchemy platform and chuyang platform. Gexian'an stele was erected in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. With concise writing and fluent language, the stele describes Ge Hong's life and the process of alchemy in Jielu, as well as the construction of temples and ceremonies in the past dynasties. Shuangqian spring in the hospital has sweet water. It is said that drinking it often can prolong life. There is a balcony at the top of Geling, which is a stone pavilion. It is a good place to watch the sunrise. When the sun rises, you can see the sky like a red sky, the sun like a huge plate, the sea changing and the gold flowing. It can be called a wonder. The ancients called this scene "Donghai Chaolong". At the beginning, there was an alchemy platform under the balcony, which was the place where Ge Hongan furnace made alchemy. There is an alchemy well beside the alchemy platform, which is used by Gehong. The water is clean and dry. It is said that the color of this well is as red as Dan on the water stone. If you look at it for a long time, the water will overflow. If you go, the water will decrease. Its depth is connected with the river and the sea.
Addendum
Baopu Taoist temple, formerly known as baopulu and gexian'an, is a Taoist temple dedicated to the famous Taoist, chemist and pharmacist. It has been listed as one of the national key temples and is the seat of Hangzhou Taoist Association. Since 1982, Taoists have resumed their normal religious activities, renovated their temples and pavilions, and protected their cultural relics. Because it is located on the Bank of the West Lake, daily pilgrims are like weaving.
In the old days, Geling baopu courtyard, together with Huanglong and Yuhuang, was known as the three main Taoist temples in the West Lake. At present, it is one of the 21 key Taoist temples open to the outside world, and Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province is the only one.
Baopulu was first built in Jin Dynasty and gradually expanded in Tang Dynasty. During the Five Dynasties, it came to Song Dynasty. In Southern Song Dynasty, it was occupied by Jia Qiuhe (Jia Sidao), the Prime Minister of power. In Yuan Dynasty, it was partly destroyed by war. In early Ming Dynasty, it was rebuilt (named gexian'an). In the orthodox period of Ming Dynasty, it was gradually abandoned. In Wanli period of Ming Dynasty, it was rebuilt by local officials, gentry and descendants of Ge family. Baopulu remains in the south. In the early years, it was used as a place for printing, dyeing and brewing industries to pay homage to Gehong. The red plum Pavilion and the half thatched cottage in Lubei are the ruins of Jia Sidao villa. According to folklore, the story of Pei Sheng and Li huiniang took place in Hongmei Pavilion. There is an alchemy well beside the courtyard, the original alchemy platform beside the Sifang Pavilion (now buried), the original main hall collapsed due to disrepair, and there is a balcony on the ridge. Originally known as GE Ling chaoguan (one of the 18 Old West Lake scenes), it was the place where father Ge Hong observed the sun and the moon. On the first day of October of the lunar calendar, it is expected that the sun and the moon will rise together. When the clear day breaks, the sun turns up, and a trace of light appears. In a twinkling of an eye, the sky is red, the lake is beautiful, and the scenery is extremely magnificent.
Couplet inscriptions
There are inscriptions in Chu Yang Tai written by zhule San, a modern calligrapher, and inscriptions on the introduction of Ge Ling Dynasty. There are couplets on the stone pillars on the south side of Chu Yang Tai, which say: when the sun rises, Tang opens the mountain and the lake reaches the top, where can the immortal have a stone terrace and a Dan well to tie the knot. In the couplet, the peak refers to the early balcony, and the immortal refers to Ge Hong in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. The couplet refers to a trip to Geling in midsummer with Li Shouyi. It should be a work before the Republic of China, and its age remains to be determined. 1919 was the last year of his life, when there was no Taishi.
The best route to visit Geling is to climb to the south of Geling: from Geling Road, beside Geling villa, there is a yellow brick gate, which is the entrance of climbing Geling. There are couplets on the yellow brick and stone gate
It is decorated with famous mountains and colored with goulou and cinnabar. It is also a good place to climb to the top and watch the rising sun of Fusang come to the East. The first paragraph is entitled "in the fourth year of the Republic of China, the quantang Wang family ruled the two NANs and wrote sentences and books", and the second paragraph is entitled "Wu County Yang Shiwei Jingli".
