The construction of the park is based on the approval of hjj (83) No. 320 and the approval of Baosteel Yuepu park expansion (84) hjsz No. 540, which is designed by the design office of Shanghai Municipal Bureau of landscape architecture. The design concept takes "Moon" as the theme, and uses modern plane and three-dimensional composition techniques to form patterns, focusing on the word "Moon" of "Yuepu Park".

The construction process is divided into two phases. From April 1985 to December 1985, part of the civil construction projects and green planting were completed in the first phase of the project. From December 1987 to April 1988, the second phase project completed the construction of waterside pavilion, flower trellis and part of green planting. It was officially opened to the outside world on May 1, 1988.

Composition of the park

There are 110 square meters of "Moon Lake" and "platform" in the park, which are the main scenic areas of the whole park. Next to the Moon Lake, there is a 5.2-meter-high statue of Chang'e in the middle of the moon. You can enter the moon shadow area from the south, enjoy the fish from the pond from the East, and turn to the east gate from the north through the Metasequoia forest. There are many ornamental plants in the garden, such as Metasequoia glyptostroboides, carnation, laurel, oleander, mosquito mother, Osmanthus fragrans, etc. Tourists can go boating and fishing in the park.
