Li Kenong's former residence
Li Kenong's former residence is located in Zhongli village, Jiyang Town, Chaohu City. On the roadside of Jiyang Zhongmiao highway, several tall pines and cypresses cover an ordinary farmer's courtyard. The house has two entrances, two compartments, eight round rooms, small earth walls, and more than 150 square meters.
Cultural relics
In 1999, on the occasion of commemorating the 100th anniversary of Li Kenong's birth, the former residence was restored according to its original appearance, with a courtyard left, and a new exhibition hall of General Li Kenong's life story with more than 300 square meters was built. The former residence covers an area of 1521 square meters, with a construction area of 550 square meters, and can accommodate more than 200 people at the same time.
At the entrance of the former residence, a plaque of "Li Kenong's former residence" inscribed by Yang Shangkun is hung on the lintel. The grass in the courtyard is as thick as the grass, and an ancient plum tree is lush. The bronze bust of the general stood facing the door. On his rectangular face, two thick eyebrows were raised high, which made him look very powerful. A pair of deep and wise eyes looked far ahead, which made him look bright. Behind the bronze statue is a white marble screen wall. On the front side of the screen wall is an article written by Yang Shangkun entitled "the noble deeds left in the world and passed on to later generations". On the back side is a 10000 character chronicle of the events of General Li Kenong. On the left and right sides of the courtyard are the former residence of the general and the exhibition hall. The exhibition hall was set up again in 2006, displaying more than 190 pictures of Li Kenong's life story, more than 50 revolutionary cultural relics and a large number of literature materials, and displaying the legendary life of Li Kenong in a panoramic way by using modern technology such as sound, light, electricity and multimedia.
Cultural relics protection
The former residence has been awarded the titles of Anhui patriotism education base, national security education base, national defense education base, revolutionary spirit education base for generations, and one of the top ten red tourist attractions in Anhui Province. In October 2004, it was designated as the fifth batch of provincial cultural relics protection units by Anhui provincial government. In May 2007, the former residence of Li Kenong was awarded by the Ministry of national security as the national security education base.
