Former site of the General Front Committee of the cross river campaign
The former site of the General Front Committee of the Yangtze River crossing campaign is located in Cuozhen Town, Feidong County, Anhui Province. It is adjacent to Huainan railway and HEMA highway in the south, national highway 312 in the north and Hefei in the West. It is located in Yaogang village, the junction of Feidong County and Hefei city.
The former sites of the General Front Committee of the cross river campaign are all Hui style buildings in the late Qing Dynasty, covering an area of nearly 80000 square meters and a construction area of 3000 square meters. They include the former sites of the General Front Committee, the former sites of the East China Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, the former sites of the General Front Committee's staff office, the former sites of the General Front Committee's confidential office, the former sites of the General Front Committee's Secretariat and the General Front Committee's logistics office, guard camp, General Front Committee's Hospital, air raid shelter, duntang and other sites.
In 1996, the former site of the General Front Committee of the cross river campaign belonged to the revolutionary sites and revolutionary memorial buildings, and was listed as the fourth batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council.
In December 2016, the former site of the General Front Committee of the cross river campaign was selected into the national list of red tourist attractions.
Evolution of construction
On February 11, 1949, the General Front Committee of the cross river campaign was established in Zhangcaiyuan village, Shangqiu.
On March 20, 1949, the organs of the East China Bureau first settled in Yaogang. On March 28, Deng Xiaoping and Chen Yi led the organs of the General Front Committee to settle in Yaogang. Here, Deng Xiaoping personally wrote the implementation outline of the Beijing Shanghai Hangzhou campaign, and the East China Bureau issued the instructions of the East China Bureau on rural work in Jiangnan New Area, the instructions of the East China Bureau on our army's southward March and the reunion of guerrilla areas, the instructions of the East China Bureau on taking over Jiangnan cities, and the eight documents on the collection and borrowing of grain and grass, the use of RMB and the mobilization of people's strength in the new area. On April 21, Chairman Mao and commander-in-chief Zhu issued the order to march to the whole country. Nanjing was liberated on April 23. On April 27, the General Front Committee, the East China Bureau and the East China military region left Yaogang for Nanjing.
In 1985, Feidong County Government established the memorial hall of the former site of the General Front Committee of the cross river campaign and opened it to the public. The former site group of the General Front Committee covers an area of nearly 40000 square meters. There are six scenic spots open to the outside world, including the former site of the General Front Committee, the former site of the East China Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, the former site of the General Front Committee staff office, the former site of the General Front Committee confidential office, the former site of the General Front Committee Secretariat, and the painting and calligraphy exhibition hall of Ode to crossing the river. There are also many sites that need to be restored, such as the rear service office of the General Front Committee, guard camp, General Front Committee hospital, air raid shelter, duntang and so on.
On April 25, 1949, the General Front Committee left here and headed for Jiangnan. There are 115 original residential houses with an area of 2519 square meters. Later, some of them collapsed and have been repaired. They have been restored and displayed in the old site, and a memorial hall for the former site of the General Front Committee of the cross river campaign has been set up.
In September 1986, Shu Tong, former director of the Political Department of the East China military region, chairman of the national Calligrapher Association, and master calligrapher, inscribed the name of the museum.

Former site of the General Front Committee
The former site of the General Front Committee was originally the residence of Wang Jingxian, a student with the title of Tai in the Middle School of Chinese calligraphy in the late Qing Dynasty. The house has screen doors, lattice fans, floor rooms, carved beams and painted buildings, simple and elegant. As soon as you enter the main room, the east room is Chen Yi's bedroom, the west one is Shu Tong, then member of the Standing Committee of the East China Bureau, Minister of propaganda, and director of the Political Department of the military region, the west one is Liu Bocheng's bedroom, and the wing rooms on both sides are the rooms of security personnel. The second entrance hall is the General Front Committee meeting room. On the front screen hung the portraits of Mao Zedong and Zhu De. In the exhibition cabinet in the middle of the north side, there are text materials such as the minutes of a joint enlarged meeting of the General Front Committee and the East China Bureau, which Deng Xiaoping presided over on the eve of the battle of crossing the Yangtze River, the deployment of the combat task of crossing the Yangtze River, and the taking over of the Jiangnan New Area and the work meeting of the front branch.
The bedroom of Deng Xiaoping, Secretary of the General Front Party committee, is in the East Room of the second entrance. There are shelf beds, a set of Western-style desks and a kerosene lamp used by Deng Xiaoping. Deng Xiaoping gave the lamp to the landlord when he left Yaogang. After the "Cultural Revolution", the descendants of the landlord donated the lamp to meet the tourists again.
Former site of General Front Committee staff office
The former site of the staff office of the General Front Committee was originally the branch ancestral hall of Zhang family, which was built in the late Qing Dynasty. It is located in the former site of East China Bureau, about 200 meters to the West. When the General Front Committee was stationed in Yaogang, the staff office was located here. The staff office is the exhibition hall of some precious revolutionary cultural relics during the campaign of crossing the Yangtze River and the war of liberation, where various guns, holsters, axes, newspapers and periodicals, epaulets, bedding and various daily necessities during the campaign of crossing the Yangtze River and the war of liberation are collected and displayed, as well as the Memoirs of comrades who worked here and the interviews with them by the staff of the memorial hall of crossing the Yangtze River. This exhibition mainly displays the history, materials and pictures of the cross river campaign and some cultural relics of the General Front Committee in Yaogang, which comprehensively, objectively and vividly represents the whole process of the cross river campaign.
Former site of East China Bureau of CPC Central Committee
The former site of the East China Bureau of the CPC Central Committee is located in the northeast of the former site of the General Front Committee. It was originally the residence of Wang Wanyi, the third son of Wang Jingxian. For two into the hatchback courtyard. The plaque on the top of the door, "the former site of Yaogang village, East China Bureau of the CPC Central Committee," was inscribed by Wei Wenbo, the former Third Secretary of East China Bureau. In March 1949, when the East China Bureau lived in the hospital, Yijin was the office and accommodation of Rao Shushi, then Secretary of the East China Bureau, Zhang Dingcheng, member of the Standing Committee and head of the Organization Department of the East China Bureau, and Zeng Shan, director of the Finance Committee. The second is the meeting room and the office and accommodation of the staff.
Former site of General Front Office
To the west of the former site of the General Front Committee is the former site of the confidential office. The former site used to be the residence of Wang Jingxian's second younger brother. After the General Front Committee moved into Yaogang village, it was the place where Xiao Guang, Liao Changying and other key airport personnel worked and lived. After liberation, the site has always been a private residence. It is a courtyard with three entrances and four chambers. It used to be the residence of Wang Jingxian's second younger brother. After the General Front Committee entered Yaogang, the staff of the confidential office once lived and worked here. Another 50 meters to the southwest is the air raid shelter site. During the period when the General Front Committee was in Yaogang, the Kuomintang often sent planes to attack this area. This air raid shelter was dug to prevent Kuomintang aircraft from air attack. The air raid shelter is about 6 meters deep and has a space of about 60 square meters, with a straight circular soil column in the middle. About 60 meters southeast of the air raid shelter is the duntang site. The water surface of the duntang is not large now. There is a mound in the middle of the pond. There is a pavilion on the mound. The cornice is tilted. It is simple and elegant. Visitors can walk from the stone bridge to the pavilion. It used to be a cool place for Wang Jingxian in summer. After the General Front Party committee was stationed in Yaogang, Deng Xiaoping, Chen Yi and other leaders often talked about politics and played chess here for leisure. In the former site of the General Front Committee of the campaign of crossing the river, there is a calligraphy and painting exhibition hall called "Ode to crossing the river". The plaque was inscribed by general Zhang Zhen, former vice chairman of the Central Military Commission of the CPC. The exhibition hall is divided into three parts. The first one is the "general's inscription hall", which has three rooms. The first room is the hall of marshals, generals and generals. You can see the authentic works of 38 generals, including Chen Yi, Xu Qianjin, Nie Rongzhen, Su Yu, Liu Huaqing, Li Desheng, Zhang Zhen and Chi Haotian. The second room is the general hall, and the third room is the major general hall. Then there is the inscription hall for party and government cadres, and finally there is the painting and calligraphy hall. In the calligraphy and painting hall, there are ink treasures of Shu Tong, Lai Shaoqi, Zou Dezhong and Guo Gongda.
As a historical witness and revolutionary holy land, the memorial hall of the former site of the General Front Committee has become the revolutionary tradition and patriotism education base of Nanjing Military Region, Anhui University, Hefei Artillery College and other dozens of colleges and universities.
Former site of the General Front Committee Secretariat
The former site of the Secretariat of the General Front Committee used to be the residence of Wang Jingxian's fourth younger brother. After the General Front Committee entered Yaogang village, it was the place where the staff of the Secretariat worked and lived. The former sites of the General Front Committee, the East China Bureau, the Secretariat and the confidential office are restored for display, while the office desks, chairs and living utensils are displayed in their original state, which reproduces the working scenes of the cross river war.
Collection
There are nearly 1000 cultural relics in the collection, including 6 first-class revolutionary cultural relics. Marshal Chen Yi's special telephone code "501", Tan Zhenlin's cloth and cotton thread woven straw sandals, General Wang De's confidential file box used in the General Front Committee, Deng Xiaoping's lantern, Su Yu's kettle, general Zhong Yuxiang's telescope, straw sandals and Merit Medal, etc.
On the white wall of the "painting and calligraphy hall" in the memorial hall of the former site of the General Front Committee of the cross river campaign, there are two inscriptions hanging: one is Xu Qianjin's, his inscription is: "the victory of the Huaihai Campaign and the cross river campaign laid the foundation for the liberation of the whole country, Xu Qianjin in March 1988"; the other is Nie Rongzhen's, his inscription is: "the victory of the great cross river campaign accelerated the liberation of China." The liberation of China is worthy of commemoration forever! These two precious inscriptions are national first-class cultural relics.
In front of the former site of the General Front Committee of the Yaogang river crossing campaign, "Memorial Hall of the former site of the General Front Committee of the river crossing campaign" was inscribed in September 1986 by Shu Tong, one of the commanders of the river crossing campaign who visited Yaogang in person. There are more than 700 objects and pictures (tables), 108 inscriptions and paintings of generals, and 36 inscriptions of Party and government leaders.
Cultural relics protection
On April 5, 1984, the people's Government of Feidong County listed the former site of the General Front Committee as a key cultural relics protection unit at the county level.
In July 1985, in order to remember and learn from Deng Xiaoping, Chen Yi and other proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation, the CPC Feidong County Party committee and the county people's government decided to establish a memorial hall for the former site of the General Front Committee of the cross river campaign.
On July 3, 1986, the people's Government of Anhui Province listed the former site of the General Front Committee of the Yaogang river crossing campaign as a key cultural relics protection unit at the provincial level,
