According to the old man, Zixia lake and Xuanwu Lake were originally connected and divided into two parts by the Ming city wall. Zixia lake was named after the former lake reflecting Zijin Mountain and Zixia Tianshui mountain. Zixia lake is surrounded by green trees, water and sky, and the north bank is full of mountains and lakes.
It's a quiet place, and it's also a good place for Nanjing people to have a cool. Just walking around the lake is very happy. Chiang Kai Shek once chose this place as the tomb site.

Zixia Lake
Zixia lake is located in the northeast of Mingxiao mausoleum, Zhongshan scenic spot, Xuanwu District, Nanjing city. It is a man-made water storage Lake hidden in the forest among the mountains. It is named after its connection with Zixia cave. With the reputation of "the Pearl in the forest" and "the first pollution-free Lake in Nanjing", it has become a good tourist destination for people to take a cool summer vacation.
Zixia lake was built in the mid-1930s with the donation of Hu Wenhu, a patriotic overseas Chinese. It is used to gather Zijin Mountain spring water, with an area of about 50000 square meters and the deepest depth of more than 17 meters. The lake water is clear, and the surrounding trees are thick, the mountains are green, the water is blue, and the scenery is beautiful.
geographical environment
Located at the south foot of Zijin Mountain, Xuanwu District, Nanjing City, Zixia lake was built in 1935. Hu Wenhu, the founder of hupai wanjinyou, donated 70000 yuan to build an artificial water storage lake. Hu is an overseas Chinese from Singapore. At that time, Zixia lake was a reservoir built by the premier's Cemetery Management Committee to solve the problem of water use in the mausoleum area, with a surface area of about 70 mu (4.7 hectares) and an annual storage capacity of 220000 cubic meters. The annual water storage is 220000 cubic meters. The lake is surrounded by green trees, the water is shining, the clouds and sky are reflected, and the north bank is full of mountains and lakes. There is a new water park on the lakeside, which is a summer resort for citizens.
In 1947, Chiang Kai Shek chose this place as the tomb site, and built a "Zhengqi Pavilion" on the North Bank of the lake as the symbol of the tomb site. Zixia lake is named after Zixia cave. Zixia cave was originally named Zhuhu cave, which is called "the thirty first cave" in Taoist books. At the end of the Yuan Dynasty, Taoist Zhou Ding lived in seclusion in the cave. After Zhu Yuanzhang became the emperor, he was granted the title of Zixia immortal, hence the name of Zixia lake.
The source of Zixia lake mainly comes from the water flowing from the south slope of Zijin Mountain, which is nearly one million square meters. The mountains and waters flow down the East and West ditches and flow into the lake. On the West Bank of the lake, from north to south, there is a large gully formed by the direct erosion of mountains and rivers, and the water is very deep; on the southwest end of the lake, there are sluice gates and overflow channels; on the east side of the lake, the water rushes into the large gully in the west along the north bank, so the north side of the lake is also very deep. The east of the lake is a shoal with shallow water. The sediment is easy to rise and turn yellow, but it is yellow but not dirty.
On the east side of Zixia lake is a forest with nothing to see. On the other side of the woods is the unknown guest house in the eastern suburb, which is often referred to as No. 9 guest house by people in big organs. It was one of Mao Zedong's residences in Nanjing from the 1950s to the 1970s. The guest house in the eastern suburb is guarded by soldiers all the year round. After the 1980s, it was renamed Dongjiao Hotel and opened to the outside world. As long as you have money, you can go in. It covers a large area. There are two-story buildings or one-story houses scattered among the green trees. There are Mao Zedong's house, Liu Shaoqi's house, Zhou Enlai's house and other party and government officials' houses. The appearance of those houses was not very conspicuous, and the interior decoration was quite luxurious at that time. In particular, Mao Zedong's house, big bedroom, big bathroom, big living room, big office, mahogany furniture, lamps and lanterns presented by Ho Chi Minh and sanitary ware imported from France are all available.
In the courtyard of Dongjiao Hotel, there is a Zixia cave, also known as Zhuhu cave, which is called "the thirty first year of Zhuhu's birth" in daoshu. It is said that the cave is often surrounded by Zixia, but it is carved with various Buddha statues. At the end of the Yuan Dynasty, Zhou Dian, a Taoist, once practiced in the cave. Zhou Dian was Liu Bowen's master. After Zhu Yuanzhang ascended the throne, Zhou Dian was granted the title of Zixia immortal. That's why Zixia Lake got its name. But Zixia cave is surrounded in the hotel compound. On the west side of Zixia lake is a small hill with towering trees, blocking people's view. It's the back hill of the Xiaoling Mausoleum of the Ming Dynasty. Most people have never been there. There are many peach trees planted in the west of the lake, which is said to be called Taohuawu.
Main attractions
Taohuawu
Taohuawu, the original Peninsula in the west of the lake, was rebuilt into Lianxin island in 1994, covering an area of about 3000 square meters. The island is lush with flowers and trees, green grass and artificial beach, which can be used as a bathing beach. Four bamboo buildings and waterside pavilions have been built to receive tourists for vacation and recuperation.
Zhengqi Pavilion
Zhengqi Pavilion, built in 1947, is located on the hillside of the North Bank of Zixia Lake in the south of Zhongshan Mountain. It is a square pavilion with a side length of 7.7 meters. It is of reinforced concrete structure, with double eaves and sharp roofs, covered with glazed tiles, and its base is supported by Suzhou granite. It was designed by Yang Tingbao and donated by overseas Chinese in New York. After the pavilion, there is an inscription of "the story of Zhengqi Pavilion". Sun Ke wrote an article. This is the tomb site of Chiang Kai Shek's choice. In the spring of 1947, Chiang Kai Shek chose a place where he would die. This place is lower than Zhongshan Mausoleum and higher than Xiaoling Mausoleum of Ming Dynasty. Zixia cave is on the east side, Guanyin cave is on the west side, and Zixia lake is on the bottom. It is an ideal place for geomantic omen, so the pavilion was built. However, the situation reversed, Chiang Kai Shek left the mainland before he could build a tomb, and finally died in a foreign land. The original three characters of "Zhengqi Pavilion" were written by Chiang Kai Shek himself, and a couplet was written. The first couplet is "Haoqi Yuanlian Zhonglie tower" (the tower of Zhonglie refers to the memorial tower of soldiers killed in battle), the second couplet is "Zixia shrouds Baozhu peak" (indicating that the top of Xiaoling is Dulong Fuwan Mount Everest, the first couplet is "September of the 36th year of the Republic of China" and the second couplet is "Jiang Zhongzheng")
Yan Zhenqing stele forest
Yan Zhenqing's stele forest is inspected by Japanese calligraphy circle friends. It is jointly built by Zhongshan cemetery, Tokyo Chinese Calligraphy Research Association and Yan Zhenqing painting academy, covering an area of about 2500 square meters. The first phase of the project includes memorial archway, gatehouse, statue of Yan Zhenqing, stele gallery and other buildings, showing the style of Tang Dynasty. The five characters "sanjiaohuizongtang" on the memorial archway are the handwriting left by Yan Zhenqing. The gate is engraved with "Book Star Collection". In addition to Yan Zhenqing's calligraphy, there are also works of modern Chinese and Japanese calligraphers. Nearly 100 pieces of Steles have been erected, some of which were written by famous calligraphers such as Lin Sanzhi and Hu Xiaoshi, and some of which were created by famous Japanese calligraphers. The whole forest of Steles imitates the architectural art style of Tang Dynasty, which is solemn and simple, elegant and graceful.
Lake Water Park
Zhongshan Cemetery Management Bureau invested millions of yuan to build four swimming pools with different specifications and styles beside Zixia lake, with a total area of more than 3000 square meters. They are scattered in the forest in a disorderly way. At the same time, they have two 50 meter long glass fiber reinforced plastic sliding troughs, which are thrilling and exciting. They are deeply loved by young water users.
Dinglin Villa
There was a Dinglin temple near the lake. In ancient times, it was a sacred place for Buddhism. It is said that Wang Anshi, a politician and litterateur in Song Dynasty, once studied here and created a study named zhaowenzhai, which was inscribed by calligrapher Mi Fu. However, the temple has been in disrepair for a long time and has been revived and abandoned for several times. On its original site, a new "Wang Anshi Memorial Hall", called "Dinglin villa", is built. It is surrounded by flower walls and the buildings are quaint. The furnishings in the hall are as they are. The cultural relics are well preserved. Its portrait is also painted by Li Gonglin, a famous painter of the Song Dynasty. There is a corridor outside the museum, and on the wall there are a hundred of his poems, all of which are from the handwriting of modern national masters. In the courtyard, the ancient trees are towering, the flowing water is murmuring, and the scenery is beautiful all the year round. Dinglin villa is a group of antique buildings, which is a three entrance hall style garden building surrounded by curved corridors. The villa covers a small area, but its layout is exquisite and elegant. Its designer is Xu debing, a senior engineer of the cemetery. The garden space of the villa is narrow, the walls and buildings are too closed, and it is completely isolated from the natural scenery outside the villa. Line 315, line 3 and bus No. 20 can reach the scenic spot. In the west of Dinglin villa, a gate is built, winding corridors and pavilions are built around the West and south sides, and a colorful bullet shooting playground is opened by using the natural forest gap, attracting many tourists.
Luyou cliff carvings
In the Northern Song Dynasty, Wang Anshi devoted himself to political reform in order to revitalize the country. He was a man respected by Lu you. Lu You's grandfather, Lu Dian, was a student of Wang Anshi. His family background made him close to him. Lu You is full of patriotic passion and frustrated in his official career. He has no way to serve his country. In the autumn rain, he comes to Dinglin Temple alone in the rain. Facing the portrait of Wang Anshi on the wall of zhaowenzhai, which is "wearing a hat and a belt, the color of God is like life", he is filled with emotion and leaves words in the wall as a memorial. Five years later, when Lu you visited Jinling again, Dinglin nunnery was no longer in existence. Only his inscriptions were moved to the stone wall and preserved. This is the Zixia Lake Park at the south foot of Zhongshan Mountain in Nanjing, where there are cliff carvings of Lu you.
