Old gate East

Laomendong is located in the east of Zhonghua Gate in Qinhuai District of Nanjing city. It is called "Mendong" because it is located in the east of the South Gate of Nanjing capital (Zhonghua Gate), opposite to laomenxi. It is an important part of Qinhuai scenery belt of Nanjing Confucius Temple. Mendong is the gathering place of traditional houses in Nanjing. It has been the place where businessmen gather, people gather and aristocratic families live since ancient times. Mendong is a broad concept. The east of Zhonghua Gate is Mendong. Today's old Mendong historical and cultural district is the concept of Mendong in a narrow sense.

As early as the Three Kingdoms period, there were residential settlements in Mendong area. In the Ming Dynasty, Zhonghuamen and neiqinhuai river became the economic center of the city. It became an important distribution center of Commerce and handicraft industry, presenting a prosperous scene. After the end of the Qing Dynasty, the areas in the south of the old city, such as laomen East and laomen West, gradually became the areas with the main residential function, which concentrated on the style and features of the traditional houses in the south of the old city in Nanjing.

Laomen East historical and cultural district starts from Changle Road in the north, the Ming City Wall in the south, Jiangning Road in the East and the Inner Qinhuai River in Zhonghuamen castle in the West. Historical evolution

Laomen East historical and cultural district starts from Changle Road in the north, the Ming City Wall in the south, Jiangning Road in the East and the Inner Qinhuai River in Zhonghuamen castle in the West. On September 29, 2013, the historical and Cultural District of South · Mendong of the old city was officially opened to the public. On the basis of retaining a large number of historical buildings and cultural relic protection buildings, the old factory buildings are transformed into "one courtyard and two museums" such as Nanjing painting and Calligraphy Academy, Jinling Art Museum and old city south memory Museum. Street Sculpture

There are four groups of street sculptures around the "old gate East" memorial archway, which are rickshaw puller, sugar taro Miao, old mail box and school children entering the hall (upper private school). All the figures in the sculpture are dressed in Ming and Qing costumes, which vividly represents the residential life of laomendong in Ming and Qing Dynasties. In the future, a number of street sculptures reflecting the life of laomendong folk houses will appear in the reserve.

Stone arch

The "laomendong" archway is 17 meters high. The beams, columns and forehead of the archway are laid with exquisite stone carvings. The stone carvings are designed and carved by stone carving artists in Huian, Fujian Province. The stone carvings include Qin, Qi, calligraphy and painting, plum, orchid, bamboo and chrysanthemum, yuruyi and so on. The Baogu stone on the base of the archway is also laid with exquisite stone cloud patterns.

There is a pair of couplets on both sides of the archway. The way is: the streets are stained with the smoke and water of the Six Dynasties, the cloth and clothes will match, and the great articles will be written through the ages. The content of this couplet is very good. In just 22 words, it shows the brilliance and depth of the city created by Nanjing people in the past dynasties.

Soup bag is really good, 14 yuan a cage, the skin is very thin, soup is also rich. 8. Huang Qinji's reason for recommendation: when I was a child, I liked the cold noodles of this family. I would buy one as long as I went to the Confucius Temple. It went up from the cheapest one yuan and five bowls to 10 yuan. The taste is OK. Basically, it doesn't change much from before, and the cold powder is more delicious.
