Longyun temple is located in Longyun mountain at the junction of Julong town and Longyun town in Peng'an county. It stands on the top of the mountain. It is named after the dangerous terrain and the shape of "Longpan cloud sea". It was built in the Liao and Jin Dynasties.

According to local people, this small temple was built in the Liao and Jin Dynasties and has a history of nearly a thousand years. The temple is full of incense. According to a monk in the temple, every new year's day, lunar February 19, lunar June 19 and lunar September 19, the believers who go to the temple to burn incense and pray are a sea of people. On the narrow mountain path, there are a lot of people. From a distance, it looks like a long dragon winding in the mountains.

Longyun temple is located on both sides of Longyun mountain, which is lined with nine branches. It seems that nine dragons surround it. Local people say it is "Jiulong holding saint". Longyun temple, an ancient temple with a long history, attracted many officials to pay homage to it, so it changed its name. It is said that in the winter of the second year of emperor Qianyuan of suzong (759), when Li Xun, king of Hanzhong, was demoted to be the governor of Pengzhou, he came to visit this temple and called it Longtan Temple. Later, because Li Yu was the son of Emperor Li Xian (the eldest brother of Xuanzong) of the Tang Dynasty and was the son of the dragon, he built and expanded Longtan Temple and renamed it Longyou temple. In the early years of the Shangyuan Dynasty (760), when Yan Zhenqing (Minister of punishment and calligrapher) was demoted to Governor Peng, he came to visit the temple and wrote the word "Longyun Temple" in person. Since then, the name of "Longyun Temple" has been used to this day.

Characteristics of Longyun Temple

Strange: the ancient immortal tree of moving legend

"Immortal couple tree" is a special term for the two Jue trees growing close to the back door of the temple. It is said that they have grown for more than 500 years. The trunk is very thick and needs 5 people to embrace it. The ancient trees, with luxuriant branches and leaves and thick shade, are more than 20 meters high. There is a big hole at the bottom of the tree trunk, which is thick with the mouth of the bowl. Standing under the tree and looking up, it's amazing that from the middle of the ancient tree, there are two different kinds of branches and leaves.

It is said that Lu Dongbin, one of the eight immortals, came here twice with a crane fairy. He felt that the people here were simple, and everyone worshiped Buddhism and did good deeds. So he left two tree species in the crevice of the mountain. Unexpectedly, they hugged each other and grew two big trees. Therefore, the "immortal couple tree" got its name. Up to now, the temple also depicts the image of LV Dongbin driving a crane around.

Sigh: three fires are more prosperous

According to a surviving inscription in the temple, "Longyun temple was built in the Liao and Jin Dynasties, flourished in the Tang Dynasty and declined in the late Qing Dynasty. It was burned three times in history. The Longyun temple, which has been damaged by the fire for several times, has not been burned down, but has become more and more prosperous. " According to a local old man, every time after the fire, believers from all over the country went around to raise money to rebuild the temple, and the scale of the temple was expanding.

Every year, there are seven Dharma meetings of Buddha. More and more people come to listen to the Scriptures and hear the Dharma. The incense is booming day by day. The number of faithful men and women is increasing year by year. The temple needs to be expanded.
