Located in Gate 7 of people's Park, 231 Nanjing West Road, Shanghai contemporary art museum is located in the central administrative and Cultural District composed of Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Art Museum, Shanghai Grand Theater, Shanghai city hall and Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall.
Facilities in the Museum
The administrative area includes conference room, multi-function hall, VIP room, data and information center. The public service area includes the customer service desk, the art museum gift shop and a restaurant with delicious food and excellent scenery.
Hall 1 (first floor)
This 1000 square meter space has a 50 meter long crescent shaped luminous ramp, which makes the exhibition a new visual experience.
Hall 2 (second floor, excluding multi-function hall)
Hall 2 is the integration of the interior space and the exterior environment. In this 800 square meter open space, visitors can have a panoramic view of the ramp and the crystal glass structure of the art museum.

Shanghai contemporary art museum is a people-oriented Art Museum. The people's Park, where the art museum is located, is a place of special historical significance for Shanghai citizens. The art museum also shoulders the responsibility of introducing art to the general public. The museum welcomes overseas visitors and also looks forward to local visitors from all walks of life, including those from the business, cultural and educational sectors.

Development history
The original site of Shanghai contemporary art museum is a greenhouse in people's Park. In the process of building, the external glass wall of the venue was retained, and the interior of the venue was reconstructed on a large scale. The venue not only retains its superior natural lighting conditions and excellent landscape of the park, but also meets the professional requirements of the museum after adding a number of facilities.
The total area of the art museum is 4000 square meters; the exhibition area is the exhibition hall on the first floor and the second floor, with a total area of nearly 1800 square meters. All exhibition areas are equipped with professional temperature and humidity control facilities.
Exhibition review
With the concern and support of government leaders and people from all walks of life, since its opening in the autumn of 2005, the exhibition held by Shanghai Museum of contemporary art has been widely praised internationally. For example, the virtual @ love exhibition, the endless (restless) and the original: Neo aesthetics of animamis are all works by our curator team in combination with the current Chinese social context, which are very popular with the audience. In addition, overseas exchange exhibitions such as Pierre et Gilles retrospective from France, Dior's Dior spirit and a dream of me have brought fresh artistic atmosphere to Shanghai, especially attracted the concern and love of many young audiences. In September 2006, Shanghai Museum of contemporary art launched the first Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art Literature Exhibition "entry: Chinese Aesthetics". The exhibition was jointly organized by the international curator team, including Ye Yongqing, Uli Sigg, sunhee Kim and Victoria Lu. In the future, every two years, the Shanghai Museum of contemporary art will focus on the current situation of Chinese contemporary art and reflect the trend and trend of Chinese contemporary art through the literature exhibition of Shanghai Museum of contemporary art.
