The ladder is located in Zhangjiajie Tianmen Mountain Scenic Area, with a total of 999 steps. The ladder to heaven is not only a way to get to the gate of heaven, but also a spiritual place to pray for blessings. In front of it is the gate altar, which is specially used for burning incense and worshiping the heaven. It integrates the spirit and blessing of the gods in heaven and earth. The ladder to heaven has five slowness and four steepness, which is in line with the meaning of "99". It reveals the ups and downs of the road of life, and the truth that it can only become a tool after going through ups and downs. There are five platforms on the left and right sides of the ladder, which are called "Yu", "Qinse", "Changsheng", "Qingyun" and "Ruyi", representing wealth, happiness, longevity, wealth and happiness. When the water vapor is abundant before and after the rain, the transpiration fog will billow from the inside to the outside of Tianmen cave, forming a unique and spectacular "Tianmen spitting fog". At this time, the whole 999 ladder is shrouded in the clouds, full of Fairy Spirit. Therefore, the ladder is also named "hanging ladder floating haze", which is one of the "ten scenes of Tianmen".
