Temple allusions
Before the establishment of xiongdeng temple, there were two temples, one called Weng Geng Da Ma, the other called Weng Geng Xia ma. They were small temples of Bai religion. Luozhen Langji (originally a white believer) who was the founder of the temple, was eager to worship Karmapa, the founder of the white religion, in order to pursue further study. He was rejected by his disciples and was unable to see him. Instead, he asked zongkaba, the master of the Yellow religion, to study Scriptures for eight years. After returning to Daocheng, he founded the Yellow religion, expanded xiongdeng temple and became the first generation of living Buddha of the Yellow religion in the temple. There were 730 monks.
